What is Vibrocil, nasal drops and when is it used? Vibrocil contains a mild decongestant and an antihistamine. Vibrocil brings rapid and lasting relief from swollen nasal mucosa (blocked nose) and runny nose.Vibrocil is suitable for the short-term symptomatic treatment of blocked nose and itching such as colds, sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses), hay fever, allergic non-seasonal rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucosa, e.g. triggered by house dust, animal hair , mold).On medical prescription, Vibrocil can also be used before or after an operation and as an adjuvant drug in the treatment of acute middle ear infections.When should Vibrocil, nose drops not be used?Vibrocil should not be used in the following cases:in the case of hypersensitivity to one of the active ingredients (dimetindene maleate, phenylephrine) or one of the excipients according to the composition,if you have chronic rhinitis that has caused thinning of the nasal mucosaif you are currently taking or have taken within the last 14 days monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs, medicines for depression)if you have glaucoma (i.e. an eye disease with increased intraocular pressure),after transnasal surgery (surgical interventions in the nose area where the meninges were exposed).When should caution be exercised when using Vibrocil, nasal drops? Talk to your doctor before use if you:high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease,an overactive thyroid gland,suffer from diabetes orepilepsy,difficulty urinating (e.g. prostate hypertrophy), are taking blood pressure-lowering drugs (e.g. beta-blockers), mood-enhancing drugs (MAO-inhibitors, tri- or tetracyclic antidepressants) or anti-Parkinson medicines (see also «When should Vibrocil not be used?»).Vibrocil should not be used for more than 3 days continuously. If there is no improvement after 3 days or if the symptoms worsen, you should seek medical advice. Long-term or excessive use can result in chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa (rhinitis medicamentosa). Vibrocil can cause sleep disorders, drowsiness and tremors in sensitive people. Vibrocil is not intended for use in the mouth or in the eyes. The prescribed dose must not be exceeded, particularly in small children and the elderly. Vibrocil nose drops are not recommended for children under the age of 2 years.Vibrocil should be used in children from 2 to 12 years of age under adult supervision.Information on the excipientsBenzalkonium chloride can cause irritation or swelling of the nasal mucosa, especially with prolonged use.Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if yousuffer from other diseases, Have allergies oruse other medicines (including those you bought yourself!)!Can Vibrocil, nose drops be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? Systematic scientific research has never been conducted. Phenylephrine and dimetindene maleate may be excreted in breast milk. As a precaution, Vibrocil should therefore not be used during pregnancy and breastfeedinght.How do you use Vibrocil, nasal drops?Do not exceed the stated dosage and frequency of use.The lowest effective dosage should always be used for the shortest possible duration of therapy.Adults and children over 6 years of age (under adult supervision):3-4 drops in each nostril, 3 to 4 times a day.Children from 2 to 6 years of age (under supervision Adult): 1-2 drops in each nostril, 3 to 4 times a day. Children under the age of 2 Vibrocil nose drops are not recommended for children under the age of 2. Application of the drops >Before use, the nose should be cleaned thoroughly (e.g. by blowing the nose). Be careful not to get the drops in the eyes. Bend your head back slightly. Instill the drops into each nostril and keep your head tilted back for a short while to allow the drops to spread.Clean and dry the dropper before screwing it back onto the bottle.One bottle of Vibrocil Nose Drops should only be used by one person to avoid the possible spread of infection.Do not use continuously for more than 3 days. If there is no improvement after 3 days or if the symptoms worsen, you should seek medical advice.Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. The following side effects can occur when using Vibrocil: In rare cases (affects 1 to 10 in 10,000 people treated), local and temporary burning or dryness of the nose and nosebleeds may occur.
