Swissmedic-approved patient information Weleda hemorrhoidal suppositories Weleda AG Anthroposophic medicinal product When are Weleda haemorrhoidal suppositories used? According to anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature, Weleda haemorrhoidal suppositories can be used to treat haemorrhoids, especially internal haemorrhoids, rhagades (superficial skin injuries) and anal fissures. Weleda haemorrhoidal suppositories contain extracts from witch hazel leaves (witch hazel) and horse chestnut bark, which have traditionally proven themselves as vein tonics and astringents (strengthening and contracting the vessel walls) in haemorrhoids. They have a local vascular sealing, haemostatic and anti-inflammatory effect. With prolonged use, the regression of hemorrhoidal nodes is possible. Weleda hemorrhoidal suppositories are well tolerated and do not cause itching. What should be considered? Once the symptoms first appear, self-treatment should not last longer than 2 weeks. If there is no improvement, a doctor should be consulted for clarification. If your doctor has prescribed other medicines for you, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether Weleda haemorrhoidal suppositories can be used at the same time. When should Weleda haemorrhoidal suppositories not be used or should only be used with caution? In the case of pronounced blood loss with the stool and if fever and pain in the anus occur at the same time, clarification is required to consult a doctor. Weleda haemorrhoidal suppositories should not be used in children under the age of 12. Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other diseases, have allergies or take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally. Can Weleda haemorrhoidal suppositories be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding? Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as intended. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice. How do you use Weleda hemorrhoidal suppositories? Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, insert 1 suppository into the intestine twice a day, if possible after defecation and before bedtime. Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. What side effects can Weleda haemorrhoidal suppositories have? No side effects have been observed for Weleda haemorrhoidal suppositories when used as intended. If you do notice any side effects, tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. What else needs to be considered? Keep the medicine out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature (15-25°C) and away from moisture. The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container.
