What is Nasivin pure and when is it used?Nasivin pure is a cold remedy that combats the symptoms of a cold. The active ingredient in Nasivin pure, oxymetazoline, has a vasoconstricting effect. This causes the mucous membrane to swell and makes breathing easier when you have a cold. The effect begins within a minute and lasts up to 12 hours.On the recommendation of a doctor or pharmacist, Nasivin pure can be used as a mucosal decongestant for sinusitis and tubal catarrh.Nasivin pur dosing dropper 0.01% is used for infants and Nasivin pur dosing spray 0.025% is used for small children from one year of age.When should Nasivin pure not be used?Nasivin pure must not be used if you have dry nasal mucosa with crusts and bark formation (rhinitis sicca), hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients and glaucoma (narrow-angle glaucoma).When should you be careful when using Nasivin pure?Nasivin pur dosing spray 0.05% may only be used on adults and school children aged 6 and over. Nasivin pur dosing spray 0.025% may only be used on small children aged 1 year and over.Nasivin pure must not be used for longer than 5-7 days without a doctor's instructions. Long-term use can cause swelling of the nasal mucosa caused by medication, the symptoms of which are very similar to a cold.Nasivin pure should only be used with caution in patients who are being treated with certain medications for depression (MAO inhibitors), for high blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases, as well as for hyperthyroidism and diabetes mellitus.Prolonged use of Nasivin pure can cause damage to the nasal mucosa.If Nasivin pure is used for a longer period of time and at higher than recommended doses, the ability to drive a motor vehicle and operate machines may be impaired.At the recommended dosage of Nasivin pure, there are no known interactions with other medicines.Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use externally.Can Nasivin pure be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?If you are pregnant or want to become pregnant or while breastfeeding, Nasivin pure should only be used after consulting your doctor.How do you use Nasivin pure?Unless otherwise prescribed, the following dosages must not be exceeded:Adults and school children (from 6 years): Apply 1 spray of Nasivin pure dosing spray 0.05% into each nostril 2-3 times a day.Small children (from 1 year): Apply 1 spray of Nasivin pure dosing spray 0.025% into each nostril 2-3 times a day.Infants (from the 5th week of life to the end of the 1st year of life): Instill 1-2 drops of Nasivin pure dosing dropper 0.01% into each nostril 2-3 times a day.Infants (1st - 4th week of life): Instill 1 drop of Nasivin pure dosing dropper 0.01% into each nostril 2-3 times a day.Please note that the Nasivin pur dosing dropper 0.01% was developed specifically for infants for use while lying down and only works with the dropper tip pointing downwards .The following procedure has also proven successful: Depending on the age of the infant, 1-2 drops are placed on a cotton swab and the nasal cavity is wiped with it.Only use temporarily - 5 to 7 days - without a doctor's prescription.Stick to the dosage stated in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.What side effects can Nasivin pure have?Burning, dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing, headache, insomnia or palpitations have occasionally been observed.
