Description

What is Relaxane and when is it used?

Relaxane contains dry extracts (Ze 185) from the roots of butterbur, from the roots of valerian and from the herbs of lemon balm and passion flower as an active ingredient. This medicinal product is manufactured using a standardized process. The standardization ensures consistent quality.

Relaxane is used for the following complaints: nervousness, tension and restlessness, exam anxiety. These can manifest themselves in the following symptoms, among others: spasmodic gastrointestinal complaints, increased irritability, occasional difficulties falling asleep and staying asleep.

What should you be aware of?

If your symptoms last longer than a month, you should seek medical help.

This medicinal product contains approx. 55 mg usable carbohydrates per single dose (1 film-coated tablet).

When should Relaxane not be used or only with be taken with caution?

The film-coated tablets should not be taken if you are hypersensitive to one of the ingredients (see «What does Relaxane contain?»).

Very rare but sometimes serious liver damage has been observed in connection with a preparation containing a certain butterbur extract (CO2 extract). However, a liver-damaging effect cannot be ruled out for the alcoholic butterbur extract used in Relaxane. In the case of existing liver damage, it is therefore generally not recommended to take medicines containing butterbur.

Unusual tiredness, weakness or loss of appetite and unintentional weight loss; Yellowing of the conjunctiva of the eyes or skin, dark urine or discolored stools may indicate liver damage. If such symptoms occur, Relaxane must be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted immediately.

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other illnesses,
  • have allergies or
  • take other medicines (even those you bought yourself!)!

Can Relaxane be used during pregnancy or in be taken while breastfeeding?

Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the unborn child when taken as directed. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use Relaxane?

For adults and children over 6 years of age, the single dose is 1 film-coated tablet, the recommended daily dose is 3× 1 film-coated tablet. Relaxane is preferably taken during meals with a glass of water.

Observe the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Relaxane have?

The following side effects can occur when taking Relaxane:

In rare cases, allergic reactions (e.g. skin reactions) can occur. Then you should stop taking the preparation and consult a doctor.

The medicine may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container.

Store at room temperature (15-25 °C) in the original packaging.

What does Relaxane contain?

1 film-coated tablet contains 90 mg dry extract of butterbur roots (Petasites hybridus rhizoma) (DEV 7-14: 1), extractant ethanol 90% (m/m); 90 mg dry extract of valerian roots (DEV 4-6: 1), extractant methanol 45% (m/m); 90 mg dry extract of passion flower herb (DEV 3-6: 1), extractant ethanol 50% (m/m); 60 mg dry extract from lemon balm leaves (DEV 2.5-3.9: 1), extractant ethanol 20% (m/m).

The preparation also contains auxiliary substances such as quinoline yellow (E 104) and indigotine (E 132).
