What is in Kamillosan Crème and when is it used?

Kamillosan Crème contains an active component of chamomile, the essential oil, in a quantified amount. Kamillosan Cream serves as an anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipruritic, astringent, slightly disinfectant with calming and odor-eliminating properties.

Kamillosan Crème can be used for minor skin injuries such as abrasions, scratches, cracked skin and burn blisters.

What should be considered?

If local deterioration occurs or if healing does not take place within 2-3 weeks, a doctor should be consulted.

If the general condition deteriorates (e.g. fever), a doctor must be consulted immediately.

When should Kamillosan Crème not be used or only with caution?

Kamillosan Crème should not be used if there is a known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients.

Hypersensitivity to other daisy family (Asteraceae) such as Achillea millefolilum (sheep gift), Arnica montana (arnica), mugwort, Bellis perennis (daisy), Calendula officinalis (marigold), chrysanthemum, echinacea (coneflower) can lead to allergic cross-reactions (see «What side effects can Kamillosan Cream have?»).

The use and safety of Kamillosan Crème has not yet been tested in children and adolescents. Therefore, the application is not recommended.

Before breastfeeding newborns, the mother must remove the cream around her nipples.

Kamillosan Crème contains cetostearyl alcohol and wool wax alcohols, which can cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis), as well as methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (parabens E 218 and E 216), which can trigger allergic reactions (also delayed reactions). .

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (even those you bought yourself!) or using them externally!

How do you use Kamillosan Crème?

For adults, Kamillosan Crème should initially be applied thinly to the affected skin areas about 3 times a day.

As soon as the clinical picture improves, 2 applications a day are sufficient.

The use and safety of Kamillosan, cream has not yet been tested in children and adolescents.

Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Kamillosan Cream have?

Painful, itchy and inflammatory skin changes.

The following side effects can be observed with an unknown frequency:

Hypersensitivity reactions to chamomile (e.g. contact dermatitis)Cross-reactions (allergic reactions) in people with hypersensitivity to other daisy family such as arnica, mugwort, daisies, marigolds, coneflowers, chrysanthemums, daisies or hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the cream base (see also «When should Kamillosan Cream not be used or should only be used with caution?»)

  • Severe allergic reactions with shortness of breath, facial swelling, circulatory collapse and anaphylactic shock after contact with mucous membranes, especially in cases of improper use of liquid chamomile preparations.
  • Methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl -4-Hydroxybenzoate (parabens E 218 and E 216) can cause allergic reactions, including delayed reactions

In these cases, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted if necessary.

What else needs to be considered?

Store at room temperature (15-25 °C) and out of the reach of children. Use by period after opening: 12 months. The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked “EXP” on the package.

What does Kamillosan Cream contain?

1 g Kamillosan Cream contains 20 mg ethanolic extract from chamomile flowers (drug-extract ratio: 2.7 - 5.5: 1; extraction agent 95.4% ethanol [v/v]) corresponding to a minimum content of 0.2 mg essential oil, of which 0.07 mg levomenol ([-]-α-bisabolol).

This preparation also contains wool wax alcohols; Preservatives: methyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E216) and other additives.
