Valverde® constipation, syrup
Sidroga AG
What is Valverde Constipation and when is it used?
Valverde Constipation contains an extract of senna and figs in liquid form. The standardization achieves a consistent quality of this herbal medicinal product for constipation.
In the recommended dosage, the extract from senna fruit produces a soft, slippery stool. This effect is supported by the mucilage, fructose and fruit acid of the figs.
Valverde Constipation is therefore indicated for short-term use in the following conditions: occasional constipation of a general nature, constipation caused by a change in eating habits (e.g. when travelling) or bed rest.
What should be considered?
If you suffer from constipation, you should
- food rich in fiber (vegetables, fruit, wholemeal bread) and
- take plenty of fluids regularly and
- make sure you are physically active (sport)!
ul>Laxatives should only be taken occasionally and for no longer than one to two weeks because of possible habituation.
This medicinal product contains approximately 6 g of digestible carbohydrates per single dose (10 ml).
When should Valverde constipation not be taken or only with caution?
Valverde constipation must not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18, in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, e.g. with existing, inflammatory bowel diseases and with bowel obstruction.

Special caution is therefore required in patients who are also taking certain water-propagating medicines (diuretics), medicines containing liquorice root, corticosteroids, certain antihistamines (such as terfenadine), medicines for heart muscle weakness (cardiac glycosides such as digoxin) and certain medicines for heart rhythm disorders (antiarrhythmics).
