What is Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 and when is it used?

Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 contains a dry extract, quantified for total hypericins, from those harvested at flowering time aerial parts of St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum). Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 is used in depressed mood, mood instability, lack of drive, imbalance as well as in states of tension, inner restlessness, irritability and the associated problems falling and staying asleep.

What should be considered?

If the symptoms persist for more than a month, medical help should be sought.

When should Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 not be used or only with caution?

If you are known to be hypersensitive to St. John's wort extracts or other components of the drug (see composition) or If you are known to be hypersensitive to light, Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 must not be used.

St. John's wort preparations may only be used in children from the age of 6 years if expressly instructed to do so by a doctor.

St. John's wort preparations can weaken the effect of other medicines! Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 must therefore not be used with the following medicines:

  • Certain drugs to suppress the immune system (e.g. with the active ingredient ciclosporin, tacrolimus or sirolimus), such as those given after organ transplants.
  • Antiretroviral drugs in HIV treatment from the group of non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (e.g. nevirapine) and HIV protease inhibitors (e.g. indinavir).
  • Certain anticancer drugs (cytostatics e.g. imatinib, irinotecan).
  • Tablets to inhibit the Blood clotting (so-called oral anticoagulants, e.g. with the active ingredients acenocoumarol, phenprocoumon or warfarin).

Precautionary measures:

In very rare cases and above all skin reactions, such as skin reddening similar to sunburn, can occur in light-skinned people after taking St. John’s wort preparations and subsequent exposure to sunlight. People who are sensitive to light should therefore protect themselves from prolonged direct sunlight during the time of application and avoid visiting solariums.

Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 should also only be taken with the following prescription drugs under medical supervision (relative contraindications):

Digoxin (so-called cardiac glycosides against cardiac insufficiency); birth control pills or other hormonal contraceptives (e.g. depot injections, implants placed under the skin, hormone patches placed on the skin, products that release hormones used vaginally, etc.) due to bleeding between periods and the risk of an unwanted pregnancy; methadone; certain antidepressants (medicines used to treat depression) or other serotonergic drugs (e.g. amitriptyline, fluoxetine or buspirone, etc.); certain medicines for elevated blood fats such as simvastatin (however, co-medication with pravastatin seems possible); Midazolam (a strong sleeping pill or sedative from the benzodiazepine group) or steroid hormones such as cortisone and prednisone, which must be taken or given by infusion.

If, in addition to Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450, you are taking other medicines that have been prescribed by your doctor, please discuss this with your doctor.

Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other diseases,
  • have allergies or
  • take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally!

Can Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as directed. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450?

The following information applies unless your doctor has prescribed Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 differently: < /p>

Adults:

Jarsin 300: the usual dosage is 1 tablet 3 times a day.

Jarsin 450: the usual dosage is 1 film-coated tablet twice a day.

The coated tablets resp. the film-coated tablets are best taken whole with a meal and a little liquid.

Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 should be taken for at least 14 days until it takes effect. A therapy duration of 4 to 6 weeks is recommended. Long-term use should only be carried out under medical supervision.

Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 have?

The following side effects can occur when taking Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450: occasional gastrointestinal disorders, reactions of the skin, tiredness or restlessness. If skin reddening occurs, Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 should no longer be taken and the skin symptoms that occur should be clarified by a doctor.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature (15-25°C). What does Jarsin 300/Jarsin 450 contain?

1 dragée Jarsin 300 contains: Extractum Herba Hyperici 300 mg (dry extract of St. John's Wort LI 160 3–6:1, extractant 80% by volume methanol, quantified to 0.36–0.84 mg total hypericin). This medicine contains additional excipients.

1 film-coated tablet Jarsin 450 contains: Extractum Herba Hyperici 450 mg (dry extract from St. John's wort LI 160 3-6:1, extractant 80% by volume methanol, quantified to 0.54-1.26 mg total hypericin). This medicine contains vanillin as an aromatic and additional excipients.

Jarsin 300 coated tablets and Jarsin 450 film-coated tablets do not change the sugar metabolism and are therefore also suitable for diabetics. 1 Jarsin 300 coated tablet corresponds to 0.026 BU, 1 Jarsin 450 film-coated tablet corresponds to 0.02 BU.
