What is Sanadermil and when is it used?

Sanadermil Hydrocreme contains as active ingredient hydrocortisone acetate. Applied to the skin, it has an anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and anti-itching effect.

Hydrocortisone is a naturally occurring hormone in the human body that fights inflammation. Applied to the skin, it acts locally.

Sanadermil is used to treat:

  • slight eczematous changes in the skin,
  • uninfected skin irritations and reddening after contact with detergents, plants, cosmetics, jewellery,
  • uninfected insect bites,
  • Sunburn,
  • slight, non-infected burns without open skin.

When must Sanadermil not be used?

Do not use Sanadermil if you are allergic to the active ingredient or any other ingredients.

Sanadermil must not come into contact with the eyes; avoid applying it on the eyelids.

The use of Sanadermil is not indicated if you suffer from fungal infections (e.g. athlete's foot), a viral infection (e.g. cold sores, shingles) or skin reactions after vaccination; Likewise, application to open wounds and purulent inflammation (e.g. boils, abscesses, acne) should be avoided.

Only use in children under 6 years of age if instructed and under the supervision of a doctor.

When is caution required when using Sanadermil?

Sanadermil should not be applied to excessively large areas of skin or under an impermeable (occlusive) bandage.

Sanadermil should not be used for a long time. If there is no improvement after 2 weeks, you should see a doctor. If symptoms worsen, you should stop treatment and consult your doctor.

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (even those you bought yourself!) or using them externally.

Can Sanadermil be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

During pregnancy you should only use Sanadermil on medical advice and under medical supervision.

Sanadermil should not be used while breast-feeding.

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you are pregnant or intend to breastfeed.

How do you use Sanadermil?

What side effects can Sanadermil have?

The following side effects can occur when using Sanadermil:

Rare: locally occurring side effects such as slight burning, itching or increased reddening of the skin.

These side effects are either symptoms of hypersensitivity to the excipients of Sanadermil or a side effect of hydrocortisone. This active ingredient can also cause the skin to dry out.

If intolerance occurs, you should stop treatment immediately.

Sanadermil can promote the development of infections.

Prolonged use on larger areas of skin and/or under an occlusive plaster or bandage can have undesirable effects on the metabolism.

With long-term or too frequent use, the risk of other skin changes or skin brittleness cannot be ruled out.
