What is Ginsana, soft capsules / tonic with alcohol / tonic with cherry flavor and when is it used?

Ginsana, soft capsules / tonic with alcohol / tonic with cherry flavor is a plant-based preparation.

It contains G115® extract from the roots of real ginseng (Panax ginseng CA Meyer), which is produced using a standardized process and is adjusted to a constant total ginsenoside content.

Ginsana, soft capsules / Tonic with alcohol / tonic with cherry flavor is used to increase physical and mental performance in the case of weakness and exhaustion, tiredness and lack of concentration as well as in convalescence.

What should be considered?

Unbalanced nutrition , excessive salt and fat consumption as well as smoking can impair performance and should therefore be avoided.

Ginsana, soft capsules are glucose and sucrose-free and therefore also suitable for diabetics.

Ginsana Tonic with Alcohol contains alcohol and various carbohydrates such as sucrose, sorbitol (6.2 g carbohydrates corresponding to 0.52 bread units per measuring cup) and is therefore not suitable for diabetics.

Ginsana Tonic with cherry flavor contains various carbohydrates such as sucrose, sorbitol (4.2 g carbohydrates equivalent to 0.35 bread units per measuring cup) and is therefore not suitable for diabetics.

Ginseng may possibly lower blood sugar levels.

When shouldn't Ginsana, soft capsules / tonic with alcohol / tonic with cherry flavor or only be used with caution?

Ginsana, soft capsules / tonic with alcohol / tonic with cherry flavor must not be used if there is a known hypersensitivity to ginseng preparations or other components of the drug (see «What is in Ginsana, soft capsules / Contain tonic with alcohol / tonic with cherry flavor?»).

If you are allergic to soy or peanuts, Ginsana soft capsules should not be taken.

In the case of certain rare hereditary diseases, certain excipients such as lactose (Ginsana, soft capsules), sugar (= sucrose) (Ginsana Tonic with alcohol, Ginsana Tonic with cherry aroma).

There are no studies available on the use of this medicine in children.

It should therefore not be used in children under the age of 12.

If ginseng is taken at the same time as medicines that inhibit blood clotting (so-called oral anticoagulants, e.g. phenprocoumon, acenocoumarol, warfarin), their effect can be weakened .

Ginsana, soft capsules can increase the effect of blood sugar-lowering drugs in diabetics.

Ginsana Tonic with alcohol: This drug contains 11.5% alcohol by volume. If the recommended dosage is observed, up to 1.4 g alcohol is consumed with each intake. There is a health risk for people with liver disease, when taking paracetamol at the same time, for alcoholics, epileptics, people with brain damage, pregnant women, breastfeeding women and children.

The effect of other medicines can be increased or impaired.

Based on previous experience, no risk for the child is known for ginseng preparations without alcohol (Ginsana, soft capsules, Ginsana Tonic with cherry aroma) when used as intended.

Systematic, scientific investigations were never carried out.

As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

Due to the alcohol content, should Ginsana tonic with alcohol should not be taken during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

How do you use Ginsana, soft capsules / tonic with alcohol / tonic with cherry flavor?

Adults

Ginsana, soft capsules: Usually 2 soft capsules daily with breakfast or 1 soft capsule each with breakfast and lunch. It is best taken with a little liquid.

Ginsana Tonic with alcohol: Usually 1 measuring cup of 15 ml daily, preferably with breakfast.

Ginsana Tonic with cherry aroma: In the Usually 1 measuring cup of 15 ml daily, preferably with breakfast.

Young people from the age of 12

Preferably take the dosage forms Ginsana, soft capsules or Ginsana Tonic with cherry flavor and reduce the dosage to half Adult dose.

Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Ginsana, soft capsules / tonic with alcohol / tonic with cherry flavor?

The following side effects can occur when taking Ginsana soft capsules / tonic with alcohol / tonic with cherry flavor:

Slight and temporary gastrointestinal reactions (including nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea) and insomnia have been reported. In addition, allergic reactions have rarely been observed.

Ginsana, soft capsules can lower blood sugar levels.

This amount of native extract corresponds to a ginseng dry extract preparation G115® of 100 mg.

This preparation contains additional excipients as well as ethyl vanillin and lecithin (produced from genetically modified soy).

One measuring cup for 15 ml Ginsana Tonic with alcohol contains: 42‑77 mg ethanolic ginseng dry extract (from the roots of Panax ginseng CA Meyer), (DEV: 3 – 7: 1, extracting agent ethanol: water = 40:60), adjusted to 5.6 mg ginsenosides. This amount of native extract corresponds to a ginseng dry extract preparation G115® of 140 mg.

This preparation contains additional excipients as well as vanilla tincture, flavorings and the preservative potassium sorbate (E 202). Contains 11.5% vol. alcohol.

A measuring cup of 15 ml Ginsana Tonic with cherry flavor contains: 42‑77 mg ethanolic ginseng dryn extract (from roots of Panax ginseng C.A.
