Description

The active ingredient in Colpermin is natural peppermint oil, extracted from the aerial parts of Mentha Piperita L. (Peppermint). Colpermin capsules contain peppermint oil with its main ingredient menthol embedded in a pasty base. Colpermin is used symptomatically for overexcitability of the intestine, especially the large intestine (irritable colon), for intestinal cramps, especially for large intestine cramps, as well as for feelings of fullness and flatulence. So that the peppermint oil can develop its effect locally in the intestine, each capsule is coated with an enteric-coated protective film that prevents the peppermint oil from being released prematurely in the stomach.

What is colpermin and when is it used?

The active ingredient in colpermin is natural peppermint oil, which is extracted from the aerial parts of Mentha Piperita L. (peppermint). becomes. What should be considered?

If possible, it should not be taken during a meal or together with preparations for heartburn. This could cause the capsule to dissolve prematurely and cause heartburn from leaking peppermint oil.

In addition to drug treatment for irritable colon symptoms, a corresponding change in diet is often useful. Ask your doctor or pharmacist.

When not to take colpermin?

Colpermin must not be given to children under the age of 8 years.

When is caution required when taking Colpermin?

Colpermin must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to peppermint oil, menthol, peanuts and soya (cross-allergy possible) or to one of the Auxiliaries according to the composition. Colpermin should not be taken if the bile ducts are blocked, the gallbladder is inflamed or if there is liver damage.

The simultaneous use of preparations against heartburn as well as the consumption of hydrochloric acid deficiency in the stomach should be avoided.

If you suffer from heartburn (also caused by a diaphragmatic hernia), it sometimes gets worse after taking peppermint oil. Then you should stop taking this medicine.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you

– Suffer from other diseases

– Have allergies

– Take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!)!

Can colpermin be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

There is insufficient data on use in pregnant women and effects on the unborn child. Systematic scientific investigations were never carried out. It is unknown whether peppermint components are excreted in breast milk. The drug should not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding unless clearly necessary.

How do you use colpermine?

Adults, elderly patients:

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, 3 x 1 (for severe symptoms 3 x 2) capsules daily.

Adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17:

3 x 1 capsules daily

Children from 8 years of age weighing more than 20 kg:

2 x 1 capsules daily

Children under the age of 8 should not take colpermine.

The capsules must be taken whole with some liquid at least 2 hours before or after a meal.

The intake should be continued until you are free of symptoms. This is usually within 1-2 weeks. The treatment should last a maximum of 3 months. Inform your doctor or pharmacist if the symptoms do not subside within the specified time.

The capsules should not be broken or chewed as released peppermint oil could cause irritation, particularly heartburn. Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

The following side effects can occur when taking or using colpermin: Heartburn and local irritation at the anus (perianal irritation) or nausea often occur , vomiting and headache. Allergic reactions with a skin rash and possible allergic shock, itching, stomach bleeding or blurred vision occasionally occur. Other very rare side effects are slow heartbeat, skin rash, irritation of the urethra, and - if alcohol is taken at the same time - tremors and impaired movement coordination. In such cases, as well as in the case of an overdose that is accompanied by similar symptoms, the drug should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted immediately.
