Wanneer is voorzichtigheid geboden bij het innemen/gebruiken van elmex gelée?Om vergiftiging door inslikken te voorkomen, moet elmex® gelei mag niet worden gebruikt als de slikreflex niet onder controle kan worden gehouden. Bij kinderen jonger dan 8 jaar moet het gebruik onder toezicht van de ouders plaatsvinden. Vanwege de pepermuntsmaak en het gehalte aan groene muntolie moeten patiënten met bronchiale astma of andere luchtwegaandoeningen hun arts/tandarts raadplegen voordat ze elmex® gelei gebruiken. Na het aanbrengen van elmex® gelée moet de systemische inname van fluoride (bijv. via fluoridetabletten) enkele dagen worden opgeschort. Er zijn onverenigbaarheden met oppervlakteactieve stoffen (zeepoplossingen) en alle oplosbare calcium-, magnesium- en aluminiumzouten. De onmiddellijke inname van calcium, magnesium (bijv. melk) en aluminium (geneesmiddelen voor de behandeling van maagproblemen; antacida) na behandeling met elmex® gelei kan de werking van de fluoriden verminderen. Informeer uw arts, tandarts, apotheker of drogist als u lijdt aan andere ziekten, allergieën heeft of andere (zelf gekochte) medicijnen gebruikt of uitwendig gebruikt! Kan elmex gelei worden ingenomen/gebruikt tijdens zwangerschap of borstvoeding?Systematische wetenschappelijke studies over het gebruik van elmex® gelei tijdens de zwangerschap werden niet uitgevoerd. Uit voorzorg dient u het gebruik van medicijnen tijdens zwangerschap en borstvoeding te vermijden of uw arts, tandarts, apotheker of drogist om advies te vragen. Hoe gebruikt u elmex gelée?Tenzij anders voorgeschreven, in de tandheelkundige thuiszorg: Poets uw tanden eens per week grondig met 1 cm elmex® gelei. Spoel na 2 tot 3 minuten. De totale inwerktijd (schoonmaak- en inwerktijd) mag niet langer zijn dan 5 minuten. Volg de dosering die in de bijsluiter staat of is voorgeschreven door uw arts of tandarts. Als u denkt dat het geneesmiddel te zwak of te sterk is, neem dan contact op met uw arts, apotheker of apotheker.
