What is Valverde Schlaf forte and when is it used?

Valverde Schlaf forte contains the dry extracts of valerian roots and hop cones (Ze 91019). Valverde Schlaf forte is a standardized herbal medicinal product. Standardization ensures consistent quality from batch to batch. The two proven medicinal plants valerian and hops complement each other. They have a sleep-inducing effect and enable restful sleep through a mild sedative effect.

Valverde Schlaf forte is therefore used for: difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep as well as restless sleep.

What should be taken into account?

If you have problems sleeping, you should avoid consuming stimulating drinks (coffee, black tea), nicotine and large meals in the evening. Get used to a regular sleep rhythm. A short walk in the fresh air, a soothing bath or reading a book in a relaxed atmosphere will encourage you to sleep. Also remember that the amount of time you sleep varies from person to person and decreases with age.

If your symptoms last longer than a month, you should seek medical help.

This medicine contains 200 mg of usable carbohydrates per single dose (1 film-coated tablet).

When should Valverde Schlaf forte not be taken or should it be taken with caution?

The film-coated tablets must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to one of the ingredients (see "What does Valverde Schlaf forte contain?").

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

• suffer from other illnesses
• have allergies or
• taking other medicines (including those you bought yourself!).

Can Valverde Schlaf forte be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Based on experience to date, there is no known risk to the unborn child when used as directed. However, systematic scientific studies have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking any medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use Valverde Schlaf forte?

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over take one film-coated tablet with some liquid one hour before going to bed.

Children aged 6 and over receive half the dose, i.e. half a film-coated tablet.

Follow the dosage stated in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Valverde Schlaf forte have?

The following side effects can occur when taking Valverde Schlaf forte:

Gastrointestinal complaints (e.g. nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain) can occur after taking valerian root preparations. The frequency is not known.

In addition, the excipients used can lead to undesirable effects such as skin reactions in very rare cases.

If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

What else should be noted?

The medicine may only be used until the date marked "EXP" on the container.

Store at room temperature (15-25°C) in the original packaging.

What does Valverde Schlaf forte contain?

1 film-coated tablet contains 500 mg dry extract of valerian root (DEV_non-native 4-6:1), extraction agent methanol 45% (m/m), 120 mg dry extract from hop cones (DEV_non-native 5-7:1), extraction agent methanol 45% (m/m).

This preparation also contains excipients, including indigotin (E 132).
