Vismed contains hyaluronic acid, a natural polymer that also occurs in structures of the human eye. The special physical characteristics of hyaluronic acid give Vismed its important "viscoelastic" and water-binding properties.

It forms a stable layer on the surfaces of the eye, which is only gradually removed by the blink of an eyelid.
