Fructose malabsorption is caused by a deficiency in the GLUT-5 transporter system. The fructose cannot be absorbed in the small intestine and ends up in the large intestine, where bacteria form gases from it.When taking the enzyme xylose isomerase, the fructose, also known as fructose, is converted into glucose and is thus better absorbed.
