Tesalin N is a herbal medicine used to treat the symptoms of hay fever (allergic rhinitis) and the associated discomfort in the eyes, nose and throat. The use of Tesalin N leads to a noticeable improvement in general well-being.

Tesalin N is standardized to 8 mg Petasine per film-coated tablet. The extract contained (Ze 339) is obtained from the leaves of the butterbur (Petasites hybridus L.).

What should be considered?

When should Tesalin N not be taken or only with caution?

Tesalin N should not be taken if there is a known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients.

Tesalin N should not be taken by children under the age of 12.

Very rare but sometimes serious liver damage has been observed in connection with preparations containing a CO2 extract from butterbur roots. However, a liver-damaging effect cannot be ruled out for the CO2 extract from the leaves of butterbur (Ze 339) contained in Tesalin N. In the case of pre-existing liver damage, special caution is required when taking medicinal products containing butterbur.

Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other diseases,
  • have allergies or
  • take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!)!

Can Tesalin N be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as directed. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use Tesalin N?

Unless otherwise prescribed, adults and adolescents over the age of 12 take 2 film-coated tablets spread over the day. In the case of heavy pollen exposure, 1 film-coated tablet can be taken 3 times a day if necessary. The film-coated tablet should be swallowed whole with some water. The tablets can be taken regardless of the time of day or meals.

The use and safety of Tesalin N in children under the age of 12 has not yet been tested. Tesalin N must therefore not be taken by this age group.

Follow the doses given in the package insert or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
