What is Liberol Baby Ointment and when is it used?
Liberol Baby Ointment is a combination of essential oils. These penetrate the skin, loosen tough mucus and increase blood circulation in the skin. Liberol Baby Ointment is especially suitable for rubbing in on infants and small children who have a cold with a cough, runny nose and inflammation of the upper airways.
When should Liberol Baby Ointment not be used or only with caution?
Do not use Liberol Baby Ointment if you have a known hypersensitivity to one of the active ingredients.
Do not use on damaged skin or on the facial area; must not come into contact with mucous membranes.
Do not use in bronchial asthma and whooping cough.
Be careful if you have a tendency to allergies.
In patients with previously damaged kidneys, Liberol Baby Ointment may only be used for a short time and not over large areas.
Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you
- suffer from other diseases
- have allergies or
- take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally (in the case of topicals)!
Can Liberol Baby Ointment be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as intended. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.
How do you use Liberol Baby Ointment?
Babies, children up to 4 years: For colds with cough, runny nose and catarrh: Rub a hazelnut-sized piece of Liberol Baby Ointment onto your chest and back.
After rubbing in, the infant or toddler should be covered with a warm blanket. Application 1-2 times a day.
Children, adults: Use a nut-sized piece of ointment up to 5 times a day.
Wash hands well after use.
Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What side effects can Liberol Baby Ointment have?
The following side effects can occur when using Liberol Baby Ointment:
Occasional skin irritation (itching, redness). In this case, stop treatment and consult a pediatrician if necessary.
If you notice any side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
