If your child's cough is productive; if it is associated with a lot of mucus production, you should consult your doctor before administering the drops. The inhibition of the cough reflex by NeoCitran cough suppressant children's drops promotes a build-up of secretion in the bronchi, which increases the risk of an infection of the respiratory tract (e.g. pneumonia) and can also lead to a dangerous spasm of the bronchi (bronchospasm). You should therefore refrain from administering cough-relieving medicines that liquefy the secretions of the bronchi (expectorants and mucolytics) at the same time as NeoCitran Hustenstiller Kinder drops.
