Sulgan-N Ointment is a medicine for the local treatment of hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids are varicose veins in the lower rectum and can occur both inside and outside the anus. The condition usually manifests itself through itching, burning, pain and, in severe cases, bright red superficial blood admixtures during bowel movements. This sometimes leads to tears in the anal mucosa (anal fissures), inflammation and eczema in the anal area, and the possibility of infection increases.
Treatment with Sulgan-N Ointment eliminates itching and pain, reduces inflammation and thereby relieves the discomfort caused by hemorrhoids.
Sulgan-N preparations are used for internal and external hemorrhoids:
External and internal hemorrhoids, anal eczema, superficial tears in the anal skin (anal fissures), slight inflammation and itching in the area of the anus.
Internal hemorrhoids, superficial anal fissures. On the recommendation of a doctor or pharmacist, the suppositories can also be used for mild inflammation and itching in the area of the lower rectum.
For anal hygiene in hemorrhoids, anal eczema, anal fissures, mild inflammation and itching in the area of the anus.
If you suffer from hemorrhoids, avoid spicy foods and eat a diet that causes loose stools (light, plant-based foods are preferred). You should avoid being overweight or reduce existing overweight, avoid sitting for too long and, to reduce the risk of inflammation and infection, pay attention to careful anal hygiene. This allows you to support the effect of Sulgan-N Ointment and suppositories.
In case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, Sulgan-N must not be used (see below: What side effects can Sulgan-N have?). Furthermore, you must not use the preparations if blood is visible in the stool. Your doctor knows what to do in such cases.
Sulgan-N Ointment is only suitable for adults and not for children.
When used as intended, no special precautions need to be taken.
Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (even those you bought yourself!) or using them externally.
Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as intended. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. To be on the safe side, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.
Before each treatment and after each bowel movement, wash the anal area carefully with lukewarm water and possibly mild soap and a soft cloth or clean carefully with Sulgan-N medical towels. Ordinary soaps cause irritation that delays the healing process.
Sulgan-N Ointment: Apply a strand of ointment 1 to 2 cm long to the affected areas two to three times a day. In the case of internal hemorrhoids, screw the enclosed cannula onto the tube. Insert the cannula as far as possible into the anus and slowly withdraw the cannula while gently squeezing the tube.
Sulgan-N suppositories: Gently insert 1 suppository into the anus in the evening in bed. Bedridden patients can insert one suppository two to three times a day.
Sulgan-N medical wipes: If necessary, clean the anal area carefully and thoroughly.
If the symptoms have not disappeared after 1-2 weeks of treatment or have decreased significantly or even gotten worse, for example if bleeding occurs on or from the anus, you must consult a doctor. The doctor will decide on further treatment.
Repeated treatments may only be carried out after a medically confirmed diagnosis and should not last longer than 2 weeks.
Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
The following side effects may occur when using Sulgan-N Ointment:
An occasional burning sensation when using Sulgan-N Ointment medical wipes is due to the effect of the active ingredients on an existing skin defect and can be considered a normal reaction. With continued treatment, this side effect will disappear. In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions can occur, which become noticeable, for example, through itching, burning and/or a skin rash in the area of the anus. In such a case, you must stop the treatment immediately and inform a doctor.
If you notice any side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
For reasons of hygiene, Sulgan-N Ointment should be used within 14 days after first opening. The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked “EXP” on the container. Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children and at room temperature (15-25 °C).
Your doctor, pharmacist or druggist can provide you with further information. These people have the detailed information for specialists.
