What is Daktarin and when is it used?

Daktarin Cream is used to treat skin infections caused by fungi, including yeasts and certain bacteria.

Daktarin Cream is a washable emulsion. It is suitable for the treatment of fungal infections of the head, beard, body, feet, hands and groin area.

Daktarin tincture is used to treat mild fungal infections on the front and side edges of the nail.

If the nail bed is infected or if more than two nails are affected, you should consult your doctor before use.

What should be considered?

Wash your hands carefully after each use, unless the treatment is for the hands. Use your own washcloth and towels to prevent transmission to others. Change the clothing that comes into contact with the affected area of ​​skin regularly, e.g. change stockings (no synthetic fibres) frequently if you have athlete's foot. Avoid reinfection or transmission in residential areas and public places (e.g. swimming pools).

When should Daktarin not be used?

Do not use Daktarin cream or tincture if you have a known sensitivity to these medicines or to other similar antifungals.

When should you be careful when using Daktarin?

Daktarin can cause severe allergic reactions cause reactions. Watch out for signs of an allergy during treatment with Daktarin (see the section «What side effects can Daktarin have?»).

In the event of extensive fungal infestation or if the nails are also infested, the doctor must be consulted.

Daktarin cream and tincture must not come into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes.

Daktarin tincture should not be applied to open wounds or mucous membranes due to the alcohol content.

If you are taking a blood thinner or other medicines, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Daktarin. The effects and side effects of some other medicines may be increased if taken at the same time as miconazole.

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other diseases,
  • have allergies or
  • take or use external medicines (including those you have bought!)!

May Daktarin can be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Daktarin cream and tincture must not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless prescribed by a doctor.

How do you use Daktarin?

Before using Daktarin, the affected skin areas should be cleaned and dried carefully. For successful treatment, you must use Daktarin daily. The treatment must be carried out continuously until the skin changes are no longer visible. If the symptoms worsen or if there is no improvement within approx. 2 weeks or after 4 weeks in the case of athlete's foot, you should consult your doctor. Another skin disease could be the cause.

Daktarin Cream

Adults and children from 2 years

Apply Daktarin Cream twice a day to the affected area and rub in lightly with your fingers. Duration of use: 2-6 weeks.

The treatment should be continued for at least 1 week after the symptoms have disappeared.

Children under 2 years of age

In children under 2 years of age, Daktarin Crème should only be usedauml;ss medical prescription.

Daktarin tincture

Adults and adolescents from the age of 12

Only use Daktarin tincture after medical clarification.

The nail should be cut as short as possible. For nail fungus, apply a layer of Daktarin tincture to the affected nail and the surrounding tissue twice a day and allow to dry (a film forms). It is recommended to clean the nail and surrounding tissues with acetone before each new application. Treatment must be continuous until the nail has fully regenerated, which generally takes several (2-3) months.

Children under 12 years of age

The use and safety of Daktarin tincture in children under 12 years of age has not been established.

Respect the dosage provided in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Daktarin have?

Severe allergic reactions have been observed in connection with Daktarin. Signs of a severe allergic reaction may include:

  • swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat and/or
  • difficulty swallowing or breathing and/or severe skin rash, itching, hives

If any of these allergic reactions occur, stop using Daktarin and contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

The following side effects may occur when using Daktarin cream and tincture:

Light patches of skin (pigmentation disorder), reddening of the skin, skin irritation, skin burning, skin inflammation, warming of the skin or itching may occasionally occur at the application site.

Hives, contact dermatitis or other skin rashes occur very rarely.

The medicine may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container.
