The elmex junior toothpaste for 6 - 12 year olds was specially developed for the needs of mixed dentition. The first permanent tooth breaks through at around 6 years of age. The enamel of the newly erupting permanent teeth is still very soft and porous. The higher fluoride content of elmex junior toothpaste compared to children's toothpaste supports hardening of the tooth enamel and makes it more resistant to acids and thus also to caries.
