What is Tebofortin and when is it used? Tebofortin contains a dry extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves. The Ginkgo extract is said to have the property of reducing blood flow, especially in the smaller area and the smallest blood vessels and thus to improve the oxygen supply to the tissue cells. Tebofortin is used for declining mental performance with symptoms such as lack of concentration, forgetfulness, dizziness (in the case of arteriosclerosis symptoms).What should be considered?Before treatment with Tebofortin is started, It should be clarified whether the symptoms of the disease are not due to an underlying disease that needs to be specifically treated. Frequently occurring dizziness generally requires a clarification by the doctor. If the symptoms do not subside within a reasonable period of time, but after 3 months at the latest, you should ask your doctor for advice.An unbalanced diet, excessive fat consumption and smoking can increase the side effects of arteriosclerosis and should therefore avoided or restricted.When should Tebofortin not be taken or only with caution?If you are known to be hypersensitive to Ginkgo biloba preparations or other components of the drug (see «What is in Contain Tebofortin?»), Tebofortin must not be used. There are no studies on the use of this medicine in children and adolescents. It should therefore not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18. Individual cases of bleeding have been reported, especially with long-term use (whose causal connection with the intake of ginkgo preparations has not yet been clearly established). An interaction with medicines that inhibit blood coagulation cannot be ruled out.Your doctor should be asked or informed about taking them before surgery.If If you have seizure disorders (epilepsy), consult your doctor before taking tebofortine.Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if yousuffer from other diseases,have allergies ortake other medicines (including those you bought yourself!)!Can tebofortin be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?Based on findings from relevant studies and because ginkgo biloba extracts can increase the tendency to bleed, tebofortin may be taken during not to be taken during pregnancy. It should also not be used while breastfeeding. It is not known whether the components of Ginkgo biloba extracts are excreted in breast milk.How do you use Tebofortin?Tebofortin forte 80: Take unless otherwise directed by your doctor Adults take 1 film-coated tablet twice a day with a little liquid. Tebofortin intens 120: Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, adults take 1 film-coated tablet each morning and evening with a little liquid. Tebofortin uno 240: Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, adults take 1 film-coated tablet daily with a little liquid. Observe the dosage specified in the package leaflet or prescribed by the doctor . If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.What side effects can Tebofortin have? When taking medicines containing ginkgo, gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, very rarely headaches, insomnia, restlessness, confusion, very rarely allergieschemical reactions of the skin (skin reddening, swelling, itching) up to an allergic shock.
