Kaloba syrup is used for the symptomatic treatment of acute bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchi). What should be considered?Cough that lasts longer than 7 days, fever that lasts for several days, signs of liver dysfunction, such as yellowing of the skin or of the whites of the eyes, dark urine, severe pain in the upper abdomen, loss of appetite, as well as shortness of breath or bloody sputum, a doctor or pharmacist must be consulted. When should Kaloba not be taken or only with caution?Kaloba should not be taken: If you are known to be hypersensitive to the active substance or to any of the other ingredients of the drugIf you have severe liver diseaseInform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist or Your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other diseases,have allergies ortake other medicines (including those you bought yourself!)! Can Kaloba be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?As a precaution, you should not take the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as there is insufficient experience in this regard. How to use Kaloba?Unless otherwise prescribed, adolescents over 12 years of age and adults take 7.5 ml of syrup 3 times a day and children over the age of 6 -12 years old take 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day. The use of Kaloba syrup in children under 6 years of age is not recommended. 120 ml: You can use either the dosing syringe or the measuring cup for the application. Both are included in the pack. 200 ml: You can use the measuring cup for the application. Dosing with the help of the dosing syringe:Open the bottle and insert the dosing syringe firmly into the opening of the bottle stopper as far as it will go. Now carefully turn the unit consisting of the bottle and attached dosing syringe upside down and hold it firmly in one hand. With your other hand, slowly pull the syringe plunger down to the prescribed number of milliliters (mL). If air bubbles appear in the drawn-up juice, slowly push the syringe plunger all the way back into the dosing syringe and slowly fill it again. Now put the bottle upright again with the dosing syringe attached and pull the dosing syringe out of the bottle stopper. You can put the juice directly from the dosing syringe into the child's mouth. Please note that the child should sit up straight and that it is best to empty the dosing syringe slowly against the inside of the cheek so that the child does not choke. Clean the dosing syringe after each dose by filling and emptying it several times with clear water. Dosing using the measuring cup:The measuring cup has four different markings. Two are opposite each other. Please open the bottle and slowly fill the measuring cup up to the prescribed number of milliliters (ml). You can now pour the juice straight from the measuring cup into your mouth. Clean the measuring cup under running water after each use and then dry it. If you prefer to use a spoon, first fill the prescribed contents into the measuring cup or syringe to the appropriate level, then transfer to a spoon. After each use, close the bottle with the screw cap. It is advisable to continue the treatment for several days after the symptoms of the disease have subsided in order to avoid a relapse. The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 weeks. Stick to the dosage given in the package insert or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. What side effects can Kaloba have?Occasionally, gastrointestinal complaints (such as stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, diarrhea) may occur. In rare cases, slight bleeding from the gums or nose can occur. In addition, hypersensitivity reactions have been described in rare cases (skin rash, hives, itching of the skin and mucous membranes). Such reactions can occur after the first use of the drug. In very rare cases, severe hypersensitivity reactions with facial swelling, shortness of breath and drop in blood pressure can occur. In individual cases, there were indications of liver dysfunction whose causal connection with the intake of Kaloba has not been verified. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet. What else needs to be considered?The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container.
