What is ZinCream Medinova and when is it used?
ZinCream Medinova is a soft cream paste containing zinc oxide that is easy to spread on the skin. Zinc oxide promotes wound healing and has a mild disinfectant effect.
ZinCream Medinova is odorless, easy to wash off with water and adheres well even to wet skin. Thanks to its good water absorption capacity, it has a drying effect and is particularly suitable for moist and weeping skin conditions, e.g. soreness and weeping eczema.
ZinCream Medinova is used in the following cases:
Diaper rash and intertrigo (skin wolf)
ZinCream Medinova is used to heal diaper rash (skin redness and soreness on the buttocks) and intertrigo (skin redness and weeping wounds in skin folds, also known as skin wolf). Furthermore, ZinCream Medinova can also be used as a supportive agent or for follow-up treatment if these skin diseases are made worse by fungal and/or bacterial infections and must be treated primarily with a medicine that is specifically effective against these pathogens.
Minor skin damage
ZinCream Medinova is used to treat minor skin damage such as open and cracked skin areas, scratches, abrasions and cuts.
Wound edges
ZinCream Medinova can also be used on the instructions of the doctor to support the treatment of wound edges in open wounds (e.g. leg ulcers or lower leg ulcers and bedsores) in order to prevent the wound from spreading and possible infections.
What should be taken into account?
Reddened skin and soreness on the bottom of babies in diapers are usually the result of moisture in the diapers and contact with urine and feces. The following measures can support the treatment:
Keep the bottom as dry as possible. It can also be beneficial not to put diapers on the child for a few hours a day.
Use diapers that allow air to pass through.
Rinse cloth diapers very well to remove all detergent residue.
Clean the bottom area with lukewarm water. Avoid soap.
When should ZinCream Medinova not be used?
If you are hypersensitive to one of the ingredients, ZinCream Medinova should not be used.
When should you be careful when using ZinCream Medinova?
If local deterioration occurs or if healing does not occur within 2 to 3 weeks, you should consult a doctor. If your general condition worsens (e.g. fever), you should consult a doctor immediately.
The parabens contained in this medicine can cause allergic reactions, including delayed reactions. Cetyl alcohol can cause local skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you (or the child being treated)
suffer from other illnesses,
have allergies or
are taking or applying other medicines (including those you have bought yourself!) externally.
Can ZinCream Medinova be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Based on experience to date, there is no known risk to the child when used as intended. However, systematic scientific studies on use during pregnancy have never been carried out. Therefore, caution is advised when using it during pregnancy.
During breastfeeding, ZinCream Medinova should not be used in the nipple area to avoid ingestion by the infant.
As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding if possible or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.
