What is Burgerstein Vitamin C retard and when is it used?Burgerstein Vitamin C retard contains pure vitamin C (ascorbic acid) as an active ingredient. Vitamin C intervenes in a variety of vital metabolic processes via various mechanisms. Burgerstein Vitamin C retard is used to treat and prevent vitamin C deficiencies. The special pelleting in Burgerstein Vitamin C retard ensures a continuous and even release of vitamin C over 8-24 hours. To date, it is not known whether this is relevant to the effect. It is used to treat and prevent vitamin C deficiencies such as scurvy and its precursors. In the case of the following diseases or under the following circumstances, the need for vitamin C may be increased and/or a supplementary dose may be necessary:bleeding gums in vitamin C deficiency;wound healing, for example after tooth extraction;operations;infectious diseases;colds;Resorption disorders after surgical removal of the stomach (gastrectomy) or after diseases in the gastrointestinal tract;smokers;Pregnancy and breast feeding period;treatment with antibiotics;in blood washing (dialysis).What precautions should be taken?Since vitamin C cannot be produced by the body itself, it must be ingested with food. Vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamin C, especially citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons and grapefruits. Larger amounts of vitamin C are also found in the liver and kidneys, but not in meat, cereals and dairy products. Cooking, watering, keeping warm and storing (including freezing) can greatly reduce the vitamin C content.This medicinal product contains approx. 65 mg digestible carbohydrates per capsule. Burgerstein Vitamin C retard is therefore suitable for diabetics.Diabetics who determine the sugar in their urine themselves should not take Burgerstein Vitamin C retard for a few days before the test because vitamin C affects the result.When should Burgerstein Vitamin C retard not be taken?If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, you should stop taking Burgerstein Vitamin C retard.If you suffer from kidney stones with increased oxalic acid excretion at the same time, have an iron storage disease or urinary poisoning, you must not take Burgerstein Vitamin C retard.When is caution required when taking Burgerstein Vitamin C retard?Patients with kidney stones may only take more than 500 mg of vitamin C daily after consulting their doctor.Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (including those you bought yourself!).Can Burgerstein Vitamin C retard be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?There are no concerns about taking vitamin C during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.How do you use Burgerstein Vitamin C Retard?Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor:Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: The recommended dosage is one to two capsules per day in case of deficiency. For colds, 2 capsules are taken daily.Burgerstein Vitamin C retard is not intended for use in children under the age of 12.The capsules should be swallowed whole with plenty of water or juice.Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor.
