Kytta med contains an extract from the fresh roots of Symphytum officinale (comfrey), produced using a special process. Kytta med has decongestant, pain-relieving, and anti-inflammatory effects. Kytta med is non-greasy and can therefore be easily washed off. Kytta med is used externally for the supportive treatment of degenerative rheumatoid diseases (e.g., knee osteoarthritis), muscle, joint, and nerve pain, as well as for blunt, non-bloody injuries such as bruises, strains, and sprains. It is also used for tendonitis and, if recommended by a doctor, for the aftercare of bone fractures and dislocations. When should Kytta med not be used or should it be used with caution? Kytta med should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients (see ingredients) or in small children under 3 years of age. Do not use if you are prone to allergies. Kytta med should not be used on open wounds or mucous membranes. The eye, nose, and mouth areas should be excluded from treatment with Kytta med. Inform your doctor, pharmacist, or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies, or are taking or applying other medications (including those you have bought yourself) externally. Can Kytta med be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? Based on previous experience, no risk to the child is known when used as directed. However, systematic scientific studies have never been conducted. As a precaution, you should avoid medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding, if possible, or consult your doctor, pharmacist, or druggist for advice. How do you use Kytta med? Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, apply a thin layer of Kytta med up to 5 times daily and massage in thoroughly. (In severe cases, apply a cream dressing.) For children between 3 and 12 years of age, the treatment period should not exceed one week. Follow the dosage stated in the package insert or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or druggist. What side effects can Kytta med have? Rarely, allergic local skin reactions (itching, redness, contact dermatitis, eczema, burning sensation of the skin) may occur. Very rarely, systemic hypersensitivity reactions, e.g., generalized skin reactions, may occur. In such cases, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. If you notice any side effects not listed here, please inform your doctor or pharmacist. What else should you bear in mind? This medicine should only be used by the date marked "EXP" on the container. Keep Kytta med out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature (15-25°C). Shelf life after opening: 12 months. What does Kytta med contain? 1 g of cream contains: 350 mg liquid comfrey extract from fresh roots, drug-to-extract ratio 1:2, extraction agent: ethanol 52% (w/w).
