Properties
Xylitol forms complexes in the oral cavity Calcium and saliva proteins, which lead to remineralization of the hard tooth structure. If you consume enough xylitol, no new plaque will form on your teeth. This prevents the development of tooth decay and loosens and removes existing plaque. Xylitol creates a cooling effect on the tongue, similar to the refreshing taste of menthol. Xylitol cannot be used by the bacteria in the mouth, so it has no caries-causing effect.
