What is Mebucaïne Dolo and when is it used?

< p>Mebucaïne Dolo, lozenges contain the active substance flurbiprofen. Mebucaïne Dolo is suitable for short-term treatment, i. for the maximum 3-day treatment of painful inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa.

An effect was observed approximately 30-40 minutes after application.

What should be considered?

Mebucaïne Dolo lozenges contain 2.5 g of usable carbohydrates per lozenge and are suitable for diabetics.

When should Mebucaïne Dolo not be used?

  • If you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient flurbiprofen or to other anti-inflammatory drugs (rheumatism), painkillers or antipyretics (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, aspirin). Such hypersensitivity manifests itself, for example, in asthma, shortness of breath, circulatory problems, swelling of the skin and mucous membranes or skin rashes (urticaria).
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding (see also chapter «Can Mebucaïne Dolo be used during a Pregnant or breastfeeding?»).
  • If you have a stomach or duodenal ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding.
  • In children under 12 years. Mebucaïne Dolo has not been tested for use in children under the age of 12.
  • If you suffer from bleeding, blood formation or blood clotting disorders.
  • If you have heart, severe kidney or liver failure.
  • If you suffer from an intolerance to certain types of sugar.

When should you be careful when using Mebucaïne Dolo?

You can only take Mebucaïne Dolo with a prescription and under medical supervision in the following situations:

  • if you have asthma;
  • if you have a history of stomach or duodenal ulcer;
  • if you have kidney disease or liver disease;
  • if you are being treated for heart disease, especially heart failure or high blood pressure;
  • if you are being treated with anticoagulants (blood thinners, anticoagulants) or have a blood clotting disorder;
  • if you are taking anti-rheumatic drugs or other painkillers (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, aspirin);
  • if you suffer from a chronic autoimmune disease such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or mixed collagenosis;
  • if you are elderly as you are more likely to experience the side effects listed in this leaflet.

Stop using the lozenges at the first sign of skin reactions (rash, peeling skin , blistering) or other signs of an allergic reaction and seek medical attention immediately. Tell your doctor if you have any unusual abdominal symptoms (especially bleeding).

If the symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear (e.g. fever, difficulty swallowing), a doctor must be consulted.

Excipients

Please consult your doctor before taking Mebucaïne Dolo if you know that you suffer from a sugar intolerance.

The drug may have a mild laxative effect. The calorie value is 2.3 kcal/g maltitol and isomaltitol.

Mebucaïne Dolo contains the dyes Ponceau 4R (E124) and Sunset Yellow FCF (E110), which can cause allergic reactions.

Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other diseases,
  • have allergies or
  • take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally.

Can Mebucaïne Dolo be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Mebucaïne Dolo must not be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, unless specifically prescribed by a doctor. Important: Mebucaïne Dolo should not be taken during the last trimester of pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Mebucaïne Dolo belongs to a group of medicines which can affect fertility in women. This effect is reversible after stopping the lozenges. Occasional use of Mebucaïne Dolo is unlikely to affect your chances of becoming pregnant. However, if you are having trouble conceiving, talk to your doctor before taking these medicines.

How do you use Mebucaïne Dolo?

Adults and adolescents from 12 years old:

One every 3 to 6 hours Slowly dissolve the lozenge in your mouth. The daily dose must not exceed 5 lozenges.
The lozenge should be agitated in the mouth while it is dissolving. If irritation occurs in the mouth, treatment with Mebucaïne Dolo should be discontinued.

Do not use Mebucaïne Dolo for more than 3 days and only to treat the conditions listed above. Use as few lozenges as possible for as short a period of time as is necessary to relieve your symptoms. If the symptoms do not improve within 3 days at the latest, you should consult your doctor so that the reason can be clarified.

Children under 12 years of age:

Mebucaïne Dolo should not be used in children under 12 years of age.

Elderly patients:

Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the medicine than younger adults. It is particularly important that elderly patients report any side effects to their doctor, pharmacist or druggist immediately.

Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Mebucaïne Dolo have?

The following side effects can occur when taking Mebucaïne Dolo, which may require medical treatment.

Very common (affects more than 1 user in 10)

Discomfort in the mouth (warmth, burning or tingling).

Common(affects 1 to 10 users in 100)

Diarrhoea, nausea, mouth ulcers, dry mouth, mouth pain, throat irritation, dizziness, headache.

Uncommon (affects 1 to 10 users in 1000)

Drowsiness, blistering of the mouth or throat, decreased sensation in the throat, flatulence, vomiting, indigestion, heartburn or pain in the throat Upper abdomen, bloated stomach, constipation, change in taste, skin symptoms such as rash and itchy skin, worsening of asthma, wheezing, shortness of breath, tiredness or difficulty falling asleep, fever, pain.

Rare (affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000)

Anaphylactic reactions.

Individual cases

Anemia, low blood platelet count, swelling, high blood pressure, heart failure, severe skin reactions such as blistering, liver inflammation.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

Shelf life

The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked on the container with « EXP» can be used.

Storage instructions

Do not store above 30°C in the original packaging.
