What is Der-med dry skin lotion and when is it used?

Der-med dry skin lotion is a lip lotion with the active ingredients urea and polidocanol 600 and a high fat content (40%) for the treatment of dry and itchy skin.

Urea supports the moisture regulation of the skin. The active ingredient Polidocanol 600 has an antipruritic effect.

Der-med dry skin lotion was able to reduce skin roughness and itching in patients with dry, itchy skin or eczema (e.g. neurodermatitis). The greasy lip lotion base helps to normalize the fat and moisture content of the skin and makes it easier to apply over large areas.

Der-med dry skin lotion is suitable for the treatment of dry and/or itchy skin and for the supportive treatment of various skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis) and damage caused by dehydration.

When must Der-med dry skin lotion not be used?

Der-med dry skin lotion must not be used in the case of acute inflammation of the skin, on open areas of skin or wounds, or be used in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

When is caution required when using Der-med dry skin lotion?

The use of Der-med dry skin lotion in children under the age of 12 has not yet been tested been.

Der-med dry skin lotion may only be used on babies after consulting a doctor. People who are allergic should exercise caution in any self-medication with new drugs.

If the skin condition worsens or the itching does not decrease after one week of treatment with Der-med dry skin lotion, you should consult a doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

May cause localized skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis).

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (even those you bought yourself!) or using them externally.

Can Der-med dry skin lotion be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child if used as directed. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use Der-med dry skin lotion?

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, apply Der-med dry skin lotion evenly two to three times a day applied to the affected skin and rubbed in lightly. The duration of the application depends on the clinical picture and is 4 weeks on average. If the skin is persistently dry, Der-med dry skin lotion can also be used over a longer period of time. If Der-med dry skin lotion is combined with other medicines for the skin, such as corticoid preparations, the doctor will determine the treatment plan.

The use of Der-med dry skin lotion has not been tested in children under the age of 12.

Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Der-med dry skin lotion have?

The following side effects can occur when using Der-med dry skin lotion: Occasionally it can appear after application burning, redness, itching, worsening of eczema or other hypersensitivity reactions.

The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container.

Active ingredients

1 g Der-med dry skin lotion contains 50 mg urea (urea) and 30 mg macrogol 9 lauryl ether (Polidocanol 600).

Excipients

1 g Der-med dry skin lotion contains medium-chain triglycerides, octyldodecanol, propylene glycol (E 1520) 75 mg/g, isopropyl palmitate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dihydrate, citric acid, Macrogol 23 lauryl ether, phenoxyethanol, sodium carmellose, potassium sorbate (E202) 3mg/g, fruity floral perfume and purified water.

The fat content is 40%.
