Description

The active ingredient in Carbamide Cream Widmer, urea, softens and flakes excessively calloused skin. It also increases the water binding capacity of the skin.

Carbamide Cream Widmer may only be used externally for dry and brittle skin. If prescribed by your doctor, the drug is also used for keratinization disorders and milder forms of ichthyosis ("fish scale disease"), including their follow-up treatment.

What is Carbamide Crème Widmer and when is it used?

The active ingredient in Carbamide Crème Widmer , the urea, softens and flakes off excessively calloused skin. It also increases the water binding capacity of the skin.

Carbamide Cream Widmer may only be used externally for dry and brittle skin. If prescribed by your doctor, the drug is also used for keratinization disorders and milder forms of ichthyosis ("fish scale disease"), including their follow-up treatment.

When should Carbamide Crème Widmer not be used?

Carbamide Crème Widmer should not be used if there is a known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or one of the excipients.

When is caution required when using Carbamide Crème Widmer?

Carbamide Crème Widmer should only be used with caution on damaged or inflamed skin and on the face.

Avoid contact with eyelids and mucous membranes. In case of accidental contact with the eyelids or mucous membranes (eyes, lips, nostrils), the affected areas must be thoroughly rinsed with water.

Avoid applying topical exfoliating drugs or cosmetics to the same areas of skin treated with Carbamid Cream Widmer. Due to the properties of the urea contained in Carbamid Cream Widmer, the absorption of other active ingredients through the skin can be increased and thus cause side effects.

This medicine contains an excipient, propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation.

The antioxidants butylated hydroxyanisole (E 320) and butylated hydroxytoluene (E 321) contained in Carbamid Cream Widmer can cause localized skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis), irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.

Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • have allergies or
  • take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally!

Can Carbamide Crème Widmer be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant, want to become pregnant or are breastfeeding, you may only use Carbamide Crème Widmer after consulting use by your doctor.

How do you use Carbamid Crème Widmer?

Adults

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, apply the Carbamid Cream Widmer once or twice a day to the skin areas to be treated and massage in thoroughly. For follow-up use twice a week or more often as needed.

Children and adolescents

The use and safety of CarbamidCrème Widmer has not been tested in children and adolescents (18 years) and will not be tested therefore not recommended.

Type of application

The carbamide cream Widmer may only be used externally. Before applying the cream, the skin should be gently cleaned with a suitable lotion or a mild cleaning agent.

Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Carbamide Cream Widmer have?

The following side effects can occur when using Carbamide Cream Widmer:

Rare (affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000)

Hypersensitivity reactions are possible. Skin irritation, e.g. burning, can also occur when used on severely inflamed or damaged skin and on the face. Skin irritations such as redness, itching or scaling can also occur.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container.

Propylene glycol (E 1520), butylated hydroxyanisole (E 320), butylated hydroxytoluene (E 321), sorbitan isostearate, ethoxylated, hydrogenated castor oil, thin liquid paraffin, decyl oleate, Dibutyl adipate, hard paraffin, cetyl dimethicone copolyol, white vaseline, mineral wax (ceresin), hydrogenated castor oil, glycerol isostearate, polyglycerol-3-oleate, isopropyl myristate, polyoxyethylene-(30)-sorbitol, 1,3-butylene glycol, sorbitol solution 70% ( non-crystallizing), 2-phenoxyethanol, magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, citric acid monohydrate, all-rac-alpha tocopheryl acetate, purified water.
