Description

Asacol Rectal Enemas 4 g 7 pcs

Asacol Rectal Enemas are a medication used to treat inflammation of the colon and rectum caused by ulcerative colitis.

What is ulcerative colitis?

Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the lining of the large intestine (colon) and rectum. The inflammation causes the colon to become irritated and swollen, which can lead to symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding.

How does Asacol Rectal Enemas work?

Asacol Rectal Enemas contain the active ingredient mesalazine, which is a type of medicine called an aminosalicylate. Mesalazine works by reducing inflammation in the colon and rectum, and this helps to relieve the symptoms of ulcerative colitis.

How to use Asacol Rectal Enemas?

  • Before using the enema, empty your bowels as completely as possible.
  • Shake the bottle well to ensure the contents are mixed.
  • Remove the protective cap from the applicator.
  • Lie on your side with your lower leg straightened out and your upper leg bent forward for support.
  • Gently insert the applicator tip into your rectum, aiming toward your navel.
  • Gently squeeze the bottle to release the enema into your rectum.
  • Remove the applicator and remain lying down for at least 30 minutes to allow the medication to work.
  • Clean the applicator and cap with warm soapy water after use.

Precautions

  • Do not use Asacol Rectal Enema if you are allergic to mesalazine or any of the other ingredients in the enema.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have any other medical conditions.
  • Do not use Asacol Rectal Enema for longer than your doctor has prescribed.
  • Do not use Asacol Rectal Enema if the bottle has been opened for more than 14 days.

Asacol Rectal Enema is a prescription medication, and you should only use it as directed by your doctor. If you experience any side effects or have concerns about using this enema, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
