What is ZINTONA and when is it used?

ZINTONA contains ground ginger root (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) as an active ingredient. The parent plant, a shrub up to two meters high, used to be native to tropical Asia. Today it is cultivated in many tropical and subtropical regions (Jamaica, India, China, West Africa and Japan).

Ginger root has traditionally been used as an aromatic to stimulate appetite and to relieve gas because of its spicy flavor.

ZINTONA can be used for indigestion and stomach problems.

In addition, ZINTONA has a preventive effect in adults with symptoms of sea, flight and travel sickness (kinetosis) such as dizziness, nausea and vomiting.

ZINTONA has been shown to be effective against vomiting associated with fever in children 6 years and older.

What should be considered?

Stomach problems that manifest themselves as pain or pressure pain in a specific area or are associated with a general feeling of illness require medical advice.

Remember that certain stimulants such as coffee, alcohol, nicotine and certain medications such as painkillers and rheumatism drugs can cause stomach problems.

When must ZINTONA not be taken/used?

In the case of gallstones and severe diseases of the digestive tract, ZINTONA is only to be taken after consultation with the doctor to be used by a doctor as ginger can have a cholagogue effect.

Do not use on children under 6 years of age!

Do not use if you vomit during pregnancy!

Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

•suffer from other diseases,

•have allergies or

•Take other medicines (including those you bought yourself) or use them externally!

Can ZINTONA be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

No systematic scientific studies have been carried out on the risk for the child.

Breastfeeding: Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as intended.

The preparation should not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding unless clearly necessary.

How do you use Zintona?

Adults and children over 6 years old

Indigestion and Stomach Disorders: As needed, 1 to 2 capsules up to four times daily.

Motion sickness: 2 capsules every 4 hours.

Vomiting: 2 capsules every 4 hours (maximum 3 times a day).

Do not use in children under 6 years of age

Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can ZINTONA have?

Minor gastrointestinal symptoms such as upset stomach, belching, dyspepsia and nausea may occur.

In women, bleeding between periods can be triggered.

If you notice side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What else should be considered?

ZINTONA can also be used when driving a motor vehicle as it does not cause fatigue.

ZINTONA should be stored in the original packaging (dry), at room temperature (15 - 25 °C) and out of the reach of children.

The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container. Your doctor, pharmacist or druggist can provide you with further information.

What does ZINTONA contain?

One capsule contains 250 mg of dried and powdered ginger root (Zingiberis rhizoma pulvis), the coloring agent indigo carmine (E132) and additional excipients (Excipiens pro capsule).
