  2. Thanks to its antibacterial effect, benzydamine works against certain infectious agents.

Benzydamine accumulates in the inflamed tissue. Bucco Tantum is used for the local treatment of sore throats, inflammation of the tonsils and oral cavity and aphthae. In dental surgery, Bucco Tantum can be used both before and after the procedure on the recommendation of a dentist, pharmacist or druggist.

What is Bucco Tantum and when is it used?

Bucco Tantum contains benzydamine, an active ingredient with the following properties:

When should Bucco Tantum not be used?

Bucco Tantum should not be used if you are hypersensitive to one or more of its ingredients.

The mouthwash and gargle solution is not suitable for children under the age of 12. The spray should not be used in children under the age of 6 years as there is insufficient data on its effectiveness and safety.

When is caution required when using Bucco Tantum?

Patients who are hypersensitive to azo dyes, acetylsalicylic acid and rheumatism and painkillers (prostaglandin inhibitors) should use Bucco Do not use Tantum gargle solution as the dyes it contains (E122 and E124) can trigger a nettle rash (urticaria) or asthma.

If you have angina or sore throat with a fever, you should see your doctor. If the pain shows no improvement after a few days of treatment (after a week at the latest), you should also consult your doctor to clarify whether additional treatment is necessary. In general, Bucco Tantum should be used for a maximum of one week, otherwise the normal oral flora may be affected.

Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other illnesses,
  • have allergies (in particular to painkillers or medication for rheumatism) or
  • take other medicines (including those you have bought yourself!) or use them externally!

Can Bucco Tantum be taken/used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Bucco Tantum can be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding only be used in consultation with the doctor treating you.

How do you use Bucco Tantum?

Mouth rinse and gargle solution:

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over years: Rinse your mouth or gargle 3 times a day with 10 ml (corresponds to approx. 1 tablespoon) of the undiluted solution for 20 to 30 seconds. You can also apply the solution directly to the desired area using a soaked cotton swab.

Due to the risk of accidental ingestion, the use of Bucco Tantum mouthwash and gargle solution is not recommended for children.

Spray:

The spray does not contain any propellant, so the spray pump must be operated a few times before using it for the first time until liquid is sucked in. Then the atomization can take place.

Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age:

Spray the spray into the mouth and throat with 4-8 atomizations. The application can be repeated up to 6 times a day.

Children from 6 to 12 years:

Spray the spray into the oropharynx with 4 puffs. The application can be repeated up to 6 times a day.

The use and safety of Bucco Tantum Spray in children under the age of 6 has not been tested.

In order for the product to work optimally, you should not eat or drink anything immediately after use.

Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Bucco Tantum have?

The following side effects can occur when using Bucco Tantum:

Occasionally, local numbness of the oral mucosa or temporary taste disturbances can occur.

Rarely, there are hypersensitivity reactions up to anaphylactic reactions, a laryngeal spasm or very rarely itchy skin swellings, occasionally sensitivity to light occurs.

If an allergy develops to the dyes in the gargle solution, hives or asthma may occur. In this case, the treatment must be discontinued.

If you notice side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

The preparation should be kept in the sealed original packaging at room temperature (15-25 °C) out of the reach of children. It may only be used up to the date marked EXP on the container.

What does Bucco Tantum contain?

Mouth rinsing and gargling solution: 1 ml contains 1.5 mg of the active ingredient benzydamine hydrochloride and excipients: aromas , saccharin, preservative: methylparaben (E218) and colourings: E122 and E124, as well as other excipients. Contains 10.7% vol alcohol.

Spray: 1 ml contains 1.5 mg of the active ingredient benzydamine hydrochloride and excipients: aromas, saccharin, preservative: methyl paraben (E 218), and other excipients. Contains 9.5% alcohol by volume.
