Description

What is Agiolax mite and when is it used?

Agiolax mite is a vegetable swelling agent and lubricant made from psyllium and psyllium husk (Plantago ovata seeds and seed husks).

Agiolax mite is used to gently stimulate intestinal activity in irritable colon, diverticulosis; constipation during pregnancy and childbirth; diet, fasting, bed rest and convalescence; for gentle defecation in hemorrhoids, anal fissures; chronic constipation. Agiolax mite increases the volume of the stool in the intestine. The ingredients of the granules swell to a multiple of their volume when they absorb water. This stimulates intestinal activity and creates smooth, soft intestinal contents.

What should you bear in mind?

Make sure you drink enough fluids!

If other medicines are administered at the same time, absorption may be delayed. Therefore, before using Agiolax mite, there should be a gap of half an hour to an hour after taking other medicines.

This medicine contains 0.9 g of usable carbohydrates per 5 g of granules, approx. 1 teaspoon. If you suffer from constipation, you should

  • eat fiber-rich food (vegetables, fruit, wholemeal bread),
  • intake plenty of fluids and drink regularly and
  • pay attention to physical activity (sport)!

When should Agiolax mite not be taken or only with caution?

Agiolax mite should not be taken if you have intestinal obstruction (ileus, pathological narrowing of the gastrointestinal tract, diaphragmatic hernia (hiatus hernia), abdominal pain of unknown cause, difficult to control diabetes (diabetes mellitus).

Children under the age of 6 must not take Agiolax mite.

Swelling agents and agents that inhibit intestinal movement against diarrhea, e.g. diphenoxylate, diphenoxine, loperamide hydrochloride and opiates must not be administered at the same time (risk of intestinal obstruction).

If you suffer from chronic constipation, it is advisable to see a doctor.

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other diseases,
  • have allergies or
  • take other medicines (even those you bought yourself!)!
