Digestodoron® drops

Weleda AG

Anthroposophic medicinal products

When is Digestodoron used?

According to anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature, Digestodoron can be used in secretory and peristaltic disorders of the gastrointestinal activity (disorders relating to the secretion of gastric fluids and the movements the walls of the stomach and intestines) and the symptoms that result from this, such as heartburn, flatulence, constipation and dysbacteria (degeneration of the intestinal flora).

The action of Digestodorone in regulating the overall digestive functions is based on an aqueous-alcoholic extract of four willows and four ferns.

What should be considered?

If your doctor has prescribed other medicines for you, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether Digestodoron can be taken at the same time.

When should Digestodoron not be taken or should it only be taken with caution?

Indigestion problems in children under the age of 12 must be examined by a doctor.

Due to the willow leaves used, Digestodoron contains small amounts of salicylates and must therefore not be taken in the last 3 months of pregnancy.

Do not use if you have a history of hypersensitivity to salicylates or any other ingredient.

Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other illnesses,
  • have allergies or
  • take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!).

Can Digestodoron be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or If you are breast-feeding or planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice before taking this medicine. Data on use during pregnancy and lactation are not available.

Due to the willow leaves contained in Digestodorone, it is not recommended to be taken during the first and second trimester of pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Willow leaves contain substances (salicylates) that can cross the placenta and get into breast milk.

How do you use Digestodoron?

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, Digestodoron is diluted in a little water about ¼ hour before meals, as follows taken:

Adults: 15-20 drops 3 times a day;

School children and adolescents (6-18 years): 10-15 drops 3 times a day;

Children (2-5 years): 10 drops 3 times a day;

Infants and toddlers: 3-5 drops 1-3 times daily.

Shake the bottle before use.

It is recommended to use it as a cure for about 8 weeks, which is repeated after a 2-week break. This does not apply to children, toddlers and infants.

For them, uninterrupted use should be limited to 4 weeks.

Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If the desired improvement does not occur during the treatment of a small child/child, a doctor should be consulted with him or her.

If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Digestodoron have?

No side effects have been observed for Digestodoron when used as directed. If you do notice any side effects, tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What else needs to be considered?

Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
