Description

Bepanthen MED ointment contains the active ingredient dexpanthenol, which is incorporated into an ointment base with a high fat content. The active ingredient dexpanthenol is converted into the vitamin pantothenic acid in the skin and supports the structure and regeneration of the skin from the inside out. The high fat content of Bepanthen MED ointment forms a fine lipid film on the skin's surface and protects it from external influences and moisture loss.

Bepanthen MED ointment is used in baby care for the treatment and prevention of diaper infections, for breast care during breastfeeding and for the treatment of sore nipples, breast fissures, for the prevention and treatment of sore and cracked skin, for dry skin, to support wound healing and the Epithelialization (formation of skin cells) in minor injuries, banal burns and abrasions, skin irritations, for example after UV light and light therapy, chronic ulcers (ulcers), bedsores (bed sores), fissures (skin and mucous membrane tears), skin transplants, cervical erosions (defects the mucous membrane of the cervix) and in interval treatments after cortisone therapy.

What is Bepanthen MED ointment and when is it used?

Bepanthen MED ointment contains the active ingredient dexpanthenol, which is incorporated into an ointment base with a high fat content. When must Bepanthen MED ointment not be used?

If you are hypersensitive to one or more of the ingredients of Bepanthen MED ointment, you must not use the preparation (see « What does Bepanthen MED ointment contain?»).

When is caution required when using Bepanthen MED ointment?

Avoid Bepanthen MED ointment coming into contact with the eyes.

When using Bepanthen MED ointment in the genital or anal area, the protective effect of latex products such as condoms or diaphragms can be impaired.

Bepanthen MED ointment contains stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol and wool wax. These can cause localized skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis).

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (even those you bought yourself!) or using them externally!

Can Bepanthen MED ointment be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Bepanthen MED ointment can be used during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

How do you use Bepanthen MED ointment?

For baby care: Spread Bepanthen MED ointment over the buttocks and genital region of the baby after each draining infants after thoroughly cleaning these parts of the body with water.

When breastfeeding: Apply Bepanthen MED ointment to the nipples after each latch. The ointment adhering to the warts must be carefully and completely wiped away before the child is next put on.

For the treatment of small wounds and the prevention of sore and chapped skin: Apply Bepanthen MED ointment to the affected skin areas once or several times a day as required.

Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Bepanthen MED ointment have?

In connection with the use of Bepanthen MED ointment, allergic reactions or allergic skin reactions with contact dermatitis, itching, reddening of the skin, Eczema, rash, hives, skin irritation or blisters observed.
