What is Bepanthen MED nasal ointment and when is it used?

Bepanthen MED nasal ointment contains the active ingredient dexpanthenol, which penetrates the mucous membrane and supports the development and regeneration of the nasal mucosa from within.

Bepanthen MED nasal ointment soothes irritation and inflammation, moisturizes the dry nasal mucosa, loosens hardened crusts and relieves the inflamed, reddened skin around the nostrils.

Bepanthen MED nasal ointment is used:

For irritated nasal mucosa as a result of frequent nose blowing (e.g., with a cold or constant nasal runny nose) or occupational irritation of the nasal mucosa; on the recommendation of a pharmacist or druggist or on a doctor's prescription for inflamed, reddened, painful nostrils caused by constant nasal runny nose and after nasal surgery to support the healing process; for dry and heavily crusted nasal mucosa. Such crusting can occur if you have been treating a cold with decongestant preparations for a long time, if you work or live in heated but insufficiently humidified rooms, if you are in areas with low humidity, such as high mountains, steppes, or deserts; if you are prone to nosebleeds due to dry nasal mucosa.

When should Bepanthen MED nasal ointment not be taken/used?

If you are hypersensitive to one or more of the ingredients, you must not use Bepanthen MED nasal ointment (see ingredients).

When should caution be exercised when taking/using Bepanthen MED nasal ointment?

The wool wax contained in Bepanthen MED nasal ointment can cause local skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis).

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking or using other medicines (including those you have bought yourself) externally!

Can Bepanthen MED nasal ointment be taken/used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

How do you use Bepanthen MED nasal ointment?

Adults, adolescents and children

Insert the extended tube into your nostril and squeeze out a short line of Bepanthen MED Nasal Ointment. Spread it over the nasal mucosa by pressing on the nostrils and gently massaging. Repeat this process up to three times daily.

If your nostrils are inflamed, apply Bepanthen MED nasal ointment with your finger.

Follow the dosage instructions in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or druggist.
