Description
Zink Biomed ® 10 film-coated tablets
What is Zink Biomed 10 and when is it used?
Zink Biomed 10 contains the trace element zinc. A zinc deficiency can cause various symptoms such as scaly skin diseases, hair loss, delayed wound healing, impaired sense of taste or smell, and under-functioning of the sexual organs (testicles, ovaries). Zinc deficiency can occur due to a one-sided or inadequate diet, or due to an increased need, for example after operations, injuries, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Increased zinc loss in the body, which is triggered by certain medications or insufficient zinc utilization (e.g. in the case of intestinal diseases) can also lead to zinc deficiency.
Zinc Biomed 10 film-coated tablets are used to support the immune system or to cover an increased zinc requirement or in cases of high risk of deficiency.
When should Zinc Biomed 10 not be taken?
Zinc Biomed 10 should not be used in cases of severe renal insufficiency, acute renal failure or hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients.
When should you be careful when taking Zink Biomed 10?
Taking Zink Biomed 10 at the same time as other trace elements such as iron, copper or calcium can reduce the absorption of zinc. Zink Biomed 10 can reduce the absorption of copper, iron and calcium. Zink Biomed 10 reduces the absorption of certain antibiotics. Other medications, so-called complexing agents, can reduce the absorption of zinc or increase its excretion. There should therefore be an interval of at least 2 hours between taking Zink Biomed 10 and these preparations.
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per film-coated tablet, i.e. it is almost "sodium-free".
Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (including those you have bought yourself!).
Can Zink Biomed 10 be taken/used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Systematic scientific studies on the use of zinc during pregnancy and breastfeeding have never been carried out. Zinc preparations should therefore only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if prescribed by a doctor and only if there is a proven deficiency or risk of deficiency.
As a precaution, you should avoid taking medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.
How do you use Zink Biomed 10?
Adults
Adults take 1 film-coated tablet once a day.
Children and adolescents
The safety and effectiveness of Zink Biomed 10 has not yet been studied in children and adolescents.
The film-coated tablets must be taken with sufficient liquid at a considerable distance from meals (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal), as the absorption of zinc into the bloodstream can be impaired by food. This particularly applies to plant-based foods such as grain products, pulses and nuts.
If the symptoms of acute illnesses worsen or there is no improvement within a week, a doctor should be consulted.
If you take Zink Biomed 10 for a longer period of time (more than 6 months), the continuation of the therapy or prophylaxis and the zinc and copper status should be monitored by a doctor at regular intervals.
Follow the dosage instructions given in the package leaflet or recommended by your doctor.prescribed dosage. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
