Bepanthen® MED ointment
What is Bepanthen MED ointment and when is it used?
Bepanthen MED ointment contains the active ingredient dexpanthenol, which is incorporated into an ointment base with a high fat content. The active ingredient dexpanthenol is converted into the vitamin pantothenic acid in the skin and supports the development and regeneration of the skin from within. The high fat content of Bepanthen MED ointment forms a fine lipid film on the surface of the skin and protects it from external influences and moisture loss.
You can use Bepanthen MED ointment in infant care to treat and prevent diaper rash, for breast care during breastfeeding and to treat sore nipples, breast fissures, to prevent and treat sore and cracked skin, for dry skin, to support wound healing and epithelialization (formation of skin cells) in the case of minor injuries, banal burns and abrasions, skin irritations, for example after UV light and light therapy, chronic ulcers (ulcers), decubitus ulcers (bedsores), fissures (tears in the skin and mucous membranes), skin transplants, cervical erosions (defects in the mucous membranes of the cervix) and for interval treatments after cortisone therapy.
When should Bepanthen MED ointment not be used?
If you are hypersensitive to one or more of the ingredients in Bepanthen MED ointment, you must not use the product (see "What is contained in Bepanthen MED ointment?").
When should you be careful when using Bepanthen MED ointment?
Avoid Bepanthen MED ointment coming into contact with the eyes.
When using Bepanthen MED ointment in The protective effect of latex products such as condoms or diaphragms can be impaired in the genital or anal area.
Bepanthen MED ointment contains stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol and wool wax. These can cause localized skin irritations (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking or applying other medicines (including those you have bought yourself!) externally!
Can Bepanthen MED ointment be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Bepanthen MED ointment can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
How do you use Bepanthen MED ointment?
When caring for an infant: Spread Bepanthen MED ointment after each Dry the baby's buttocks and genital area after you have thoroughly cleaned these parts of the body with water.
When breastfeeding: Apply Bepanthen MED ointment to the nipples after each feeding. Before the baby is breastfed again, the ointment adhering to the nipples must be carefully and completely wiped away.
To treat small wounds and to prevent sore and cracked skin: Apply Bepanthen MED ointment to the affected areas of skin once or several times a day as needed.
Follow the dosage stated in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What side effects can Bepanthen MED ointment have?
Allergic reactions or allergic skin reactions with contact dermatitis, itching, skin redness, eczema, rash, hives, skin irritation or blisters have been observed very rarely in connection with the use of Bepanthen MED ointment.
If you notice side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

Always keep the tube in a safe place Store in a sealed container, protected from heat, at room temperature (15-25°C) and out of the reach of children. The medicine may only be used until the date marked "EXP" on the container.
