When should Hametum not be used or only with caution?
Use in children under the age of 2 is not recommended as there is insufficient data for this age group. If a local deterioration occurs or if healing does not occur within 2-3 weeks, a doctor, pharmacist or druggist should be consulted.
If the general condition deteriorates (e.g. fever), a doctor must be consulted immediately. If you are hypersensitive to one of the ingredients, such as wool wax or cetostearyl alcohol, the ointment must not be used. May cause localized skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis).
This medicinal product contains 8.3 mg propylene glycol per 0.5 cm strand of ointment, equivalent to 50 mg/g ointment.
Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you
- suffer from other illnesses,
- have allergies or
- take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally!
Can Hametum be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as directed. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.
How do you use Hametum?
Adults, adolescents and children from 2 years of age: Unless otherwise prescribed, apply a thin layer of Hametum several times a day or massage in lightly as required. A strand of ointment 0.5 cm long corresponds to 0.17 g of ointment.
For local treatment of hemorrhoids, insert ointment twice a day using a screw-on cannula (25 g, 35 g and 50 g tubes with cannula).
Stick to the dosage given in the package insert or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
The use and safety of Hametum ointment in children under 2 years of age has not yet been tested.
