What are Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges and when are they used?

Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges are characterized by a pleasant taste of orange, their easy-to-take dosage form and therapeutically sensible dosage. A lack of magnesium can result in mild to serious disorders.

People need 300-400 mg Mg²⁺ every day. There is an increased need, for example, during high-performance sports, pregnancy, breastfeeding, alcohol abuse and during growth. The daily requirement can double. Magnesium mainly affects the heart and blood vessels, nerves and muscles.

Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges are

recommended for:

Calf cramps, muscle twitching, restless legs; low-magnesium diet;

used to cover an increased need:

in high-performance sports, during pregnancy and breastfeeding; during growth;

used on medical prescription:

for magnesium deficiencies as a result of insufficient intake (unbalanced diet, alcohol abuse),

for certain cardiac arrhythmias.

What should be considered?

Note for diabetics: This medicine contains 69 mg usable carbohydrates per single dose.

When magnesium may-Diaspor al 100 lozenges should not be used?

In the case of severely restricted kidney function or a predisposition to certain kidney stone diseases (magnesium ammonium phosphate stones) and large water losses, e.g. after severe vomiting or diarrhea, Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges should not be used.

When is caution required when taking Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges?

Patients with impaired kidney function may only take the drug after consultation with the doctor. If the medicine is taken for calf cramps and they last longer than 10 days, a doctor must be consulted.

Magnesium preparations should not be taken at the same time as tetracyclines (antibiotics) or fluorides, as they interfere with each other's absorption into the blood. A staggered application of 3-4 hours is possible.

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the following daily dosage is recommended for Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges:

Children 2-3 years: 1× 1 lozenge

Children 3-12 years: 2× 1 lozenge

Adults and children over 12 years: 3× 1 lozenge

The use and safety of Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges in children under the age of 2 has not been systematically tested.

What side effects can Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges have?

The following side effects can occur when taking Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges:

Occasionally, it can occur when taking Magnesium-Diasporal 100 lozenges to loose stools. This unwanted side effect usually goes away after a few days without stopping the drug; otherwise the dose should be reduced accordingly after consultation with the doctor, pharmacist or druggistor stop taking the medicine.
