Description

What is Fungotox Cream and when is it used?

Fungotox Cream contains clotrimazole as an active ingredient. This active ingredient destroys fungi that attack the skin of humans and lead to superficial fungal diseases (mycoses). It is also effective against certain bacteria on the skin.

Fungotox Cream can also be used for diaper rash and yeast infestation on the glans and penis.

When must Fungotox Cream not be used?

Fungotox Cream should not be used in the event of hypersensitivity to other antifungal agents (antimycotics) of the imidazole type or any component of the preparation.

If there is a known hypersensitivity to Ceto stearyl alcohol, it is advisable to use a cetostearyl alcohol-free dosage form of a clotrimazole-containing product from another supplier instead of the cream.

Fungotox Crème must not be applied to the mucous membranes of the mouth and nose or in/on the eye, or swallowed.

When should caution be exercised when using Fungotox Crème?

Consult a doctor in the event of extensive fungal infestation or if the nails are also infested.

The special form of Fungotox vaginal tablets is available for the treatment of fungal infections in the area of the female genitals.

Fungotox cream can reduce the tear strength and thus the safety of latex products such as condoms or diaphragms if it is applied to the intimate area (women: labia and surrounding skin regions; Males: glans and foreskin of the penis). This effect is temporary and limited to the period of treatment.

This medicinal product contains 20 mg benzyl alcohol per g cream. Benzyl alcohol can cause allergic reactions and mild local irritation. Fungotox Cream contains cetostearyl alcohol. Cetostearyl alcohol can cause localized skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis).

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other diseases, have
  • allergies or
  • take or use external medicines (including those you bought yourself!)!

Can Fungotox Cream be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Controlled studies in pregnant women are not available.

Animal studies have shown embryotoxic effects at high oral doses. However, due to the low systemic availability, harmful effects on the embryo or fetus are unlikely.

The preparation should only be used during pregnancy under medical supervision and only if this is clearly necessary.

Lactation

Animal studies have shown that small amounts of clotrimazole can be detected in breast milk after intravenous administration. Corresponding human data are not available. After local application of clotrimazole, however, systemic absorption is very low, so that it is unlikely that relevant amounts of the substance will pass into breast milk.

During breastfeeding, Fungotox Crème should under no circumstances be applied directly to the breast; if treatment of the breast is necessary, breastfeeding must be (temporarily) stopped.

How do you use Fungotox Cream?

Adults and children from 2 years of age

Unless otherwise prescribed, Fungotox Cream is applied thinly to the affected areas and rubbed in 2 to 3 times a day. When treating fungal diseases of the auditory canal, if the eardrum is intact, a strip of gauze is coated with Fungotox cream and placed in the auditory canal as a loose tamponade.

Fungotox cream should be used for diaper rash 2 to 3 times a day with dü done when applying the cream to the affected areas. Treatment should last at least 7 days. A doctor should then assess the success of the therapy and decide whether to continue the treatment.

Children under the age of 2

In children under the age of 2, Fungotox Crème should only be used if prescribed by a doctor.

Reliable and sufficiently long use of Fungotox Crème is important for successful treatment (see below).

The duration of treatment varies; it depends, among other things, on the extent and localization of the disease.

It is generally 3-4 weeks for skin fungus.

In the case of athlete's foot, treatment should be continued for about 2 weeks after all signs of the disease have disappeared - to prevent recurrence - even if there is rapid improvement.

To prevent the fungal disease from recurring, the affected parts of the body should be dried thoroughly after washing. This applies in particular to the spaces between the fingers and toes.

If the symptoms worsen or if there is no improvement after four weeks of treatment, the doctor should be consulted.

In the case of fungal infestation of the glans penis and foreskin, a treatment period of 1-2 weeks is generally sufficient.

Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by the doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Fungotox Cream have?

Hypersensitivity reactions and skin reactions such as dry skin, burning, blistering, swelling, stinging, skin redness, irritation, itching, scaling, hives, shortness of breath, drop in blood pressure through to fainting, accumulation of fluid at the site of administration and anaphylactic reactions may occur.
