Description
What is Visine Classic and when is it used?
Visine Classic causes the fine blood vessels in the conjunctiva to constrict, thereby reducing the swelling of the irritated mucous membranes in the conjunctival sac. The effect occurs immediately after instillation in the eye and lasts for 4 to 6 hours.
Visine Classic is used to relieve slight irritation of the eyes. Irritant states can be caused, for example, by smoke, dust, chlorinated water in swimming pools, light, drafts, cosmetics or contact lenses. On the recommendation of a doctor, pharmacist or druggist, this preparation can also be used to relieve excessive tearing in allergic reactions.
When must Visine Classic not be used?
Visine Classic must not be used in children under the age of two, with known hypersensitivity (allergy) to one or more ingredients, in people suffering from angle-closure glaucoma (glaucoma) and irritation n of the eye caused by infections or foreign bodies.
Long-term use and overdose should be avoided.
When is caution required when using Visine Classic?
When using eye drops, the following should generally be observed: Sometimes redness or irritation is caused by more serious damage to the eye, such as infections, foreign bodies or mechanical, thermal or chemical effects on the cornea, which requires treatment by your doctor .
Visine Classic should only be used for mild, uncomplicated eye irritation. If there is no improvement within 72 hours, the irritation and/or redness persists or worsens, eye pain, visual disturbances such as a sudden change in your vision, the occurrence of "mosquito vision" or double vision or other symptoms occur, you should stop using the product and contact your doctor immediately.
Continuous use or excessive use of the product can lead to increased reddening of the eyes.
Using the product can lead to a temporary dilation of the pupils.
Patients suffering from diabetes, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, aneurysms or heart disease, as well as elderly people, should speak to their doctor, pharmacist or druggist before using Visine Classic.
Visine Classic can lead to blurred vision and increased sensitivity to light. The ability to drive and use tools or machines may therefore be impaired. Only when this impairment has subsided should you drive or operate machines.
Visine Classic eye drops in the dropper bottle contain 0.004 mg benzalkonium chloride per drop.
Benzalkonium chloride can be absorbed by soft contact lenses and can lead to discoloration of the contact lenses. You must remove your contact lenses before using this medicine and wait 15 minutes before putting them back in.
Benzalkonium chloride can also cause eye irritation, particularly if you have dry eyes or diseases of the cornea (the clear layer at the front of the eye). Contact your doctor if you have an unusual feeling, burning sensation or pain in the eye after using this medicine.
Visine Classic: Do not give this medicine to a child under 2 years of age because it contains boron and may later affect fertility.
Tell your doctor, pharmacist or pharmacist if you
- suffer from other diseases,
- have allergies or
- take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally!
Can Visine Classic be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant or want to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding, you should only use Visine Classic after consulting your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
