What is Cimifemin forte and when is it used?
Cimifemin forte contains a dry extract from Cimicifuga rhizome (Cimicifuga racemosa, (L.) Nutt., rhizoma).
Cimifemin forte is used for menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, sweating, sleep disorders, nervousness and moodiness). These can be alleviated with Cimifemin forte.
What precautions should be taken?
If there is an unusual drop in performance, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine or discolored stools, Cimifemin forte should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.
If you feel tender or swollen in your breasts, or have breakthrough bleeding, spotting or recurring periods, you should consult your doctor.
This medicine contains 44 mg of usable carbohydrates per tablet. The medicine is suitable for diabetics.
When should Cimifemin forte not be taken or used with caution?
Cimifemin forte must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to one of the ingredients or to ranunculaceae. If you have pre-existing liver damage, it is not recommended to take Cimifemin forte. This preparation affects the physical and psychological symptoms of menopause (climacteric). Since there are currently no clinical data showing a beneficial effect on the bones, this preparation cannot be used to prevent osteoporosis.
Cimifemin forte contains lactose. Please only take Cimifemin forte after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from sugar intolerance.
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per tablet, meaning it is almost “sodium free”.
Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you:
- suffer from other illnesses,
- Have allergies or
- Take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!)!
Can Cimifemin forte be taken/used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Cimifemin forte is indicated for menopausal women. It is not intended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines if possible during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.
How do you use Cimifemin forte?
Adults: Unless otherwise prescribed, take 1 tablet whole once a day with a little liquid. Cimifemin forte can be used for a long time, at least for a period of 6 weeks. The effectiveness of Cimifemin forte after a treatment period of more than 12 weeks has not been studied. Use beyond 6 months should only be carried out after consulting your doctor.
The use and safety of Cimifemin forte in children and adolescents has not yet been tested.
Stick to the dosage stated in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What side effects can Cimifemin forte have?
The following side effects may occur when taking Cimifemin forte:
- in rare cases stomach problems, nausea, heartburn and diarrhea.
- in individual cases breast tenderness or swelling, spotting and breakthrough bleeding or the return of menstruation.
- Skin reactions such as itching, rashes and hives; Water retention on the face and the rest of the body, frequency unknown.
- In individual cases there is evidence of liver damage (inflammation of the liver, jaundice, disruption of liver function tests) when using medicines containing black cohosh. If there is an unusual drop in performance, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine or discolored stools, Cimifemin forte should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.
If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This applies in particular to side effects that are not stated in this leaflet.

The medicine may only be used until the date marked “EXP” on the container.

One tablet contains 13 mg dry extract from Cimicifuga rhizome ( Cimicifuga racemosa , (L.) Nutt., rhizoma), drug-extract ratio 4.5 - 8.5:1, extractant: 60% ethanol ( V/V ).
