According to anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature, Weleda Cold Sores Ointment can be used to prevent and heal cold sores (herpes labialis). Weleda cold sore ointment has a disinfecting, wound-healing and pain-relieving effect in accordance with anthroposophical principles.
Weleda Cold Sores Ointment should only be used on the lips.
If your doctor has prescribed other medicines for you, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether Weleda Cold Sores Ointment can be used at the same time.
Weleda Cold Sore Ointment must not be used with:
The ointment should not be applied to open areas or large wounds (> 1cm2).
In addition to zinc oxide and peppermint oil, Weleda cold sore ointment also contains thyme oil.
No systematic scientific studies have been carried out on children and adolescents under the age of 18 with skin preparations containing thyme oil, which is why you should ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice as a precaution.

Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as intended. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, Weleda cold sore ointment is applied to the affected skin areas 2-3 times a day.
Note: Weleda Cold Sore Ointment should be applied at the first symptoms such as tingling, itching and/or tension. Weleda cold sore ointment should be used as a preventive measure if you are particularly exposed to the sun's rays.
Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If the desired improvement does not occur during treatment of a child, a doctor should be consulted with him or her. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
Peppermint oil and thyme oil can cause allergic reactions.
In rare cases, local hypersensitivity reactions and pain have been observed. In these cases, the drug should be discontinued immediately. If you notice side effects, contact your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.
Avoid eye contact with unwashed hands after using Weleda Cold Sores Ointment.
The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked “EXP” on the container.
Keep out of the reach of children and store at room temperature (15-25°C).
