Description
Oculac SDU is used as a tear substitute. The preparation is suitable for moistening the eyes. On the recommendation of the pharmacist or on the prescription of a doctor, Oculac SDU is also used for dry eyes of various causes.
Oculac SDU is an aqueous solution; it contains Povidonum K 25 and the electrolytes magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium and is therefore comparable to natural tear fluid.
After instillation, Oculac SDU quickly spreads over the eye and forms a protective film.
Oculac SDU contains no preservatives and is therefore also suitable for wetting hard and soft contact lenses during wear.

What is Oculac SDU and when is it used?

When not to use Oculac SDU?
Oculac SDU should not be used if you have a known or suspected hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
When is caution needed when using Oculac SDU?
If dry eye irritation persists or worsens, you should discontinue treatment and contact your doctor. see your doctor.
If you need to use Oculac SDU concomitantly with other eye medications, you should discuss this with your doctor, pharmacist or druggist to establish an appropriate schedule for using the medications.
If other drugs applied locally to the eye are used at the same time, a time interval of 5-10 minutes should be observed between applications. Oculac SDU should always be instilled last.
If you experience blurred vision immediately after using Oculac SDU, you should refrain from driving or using machines and wait until vision clears.
Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (even those you bought yourself!) or use them on your eyes.
Can Oculac SDU be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding only after consulting your doctor, pharmacist or druggist , pharmacist or druggist.
How do you use Oculac SDU?
Adults
If needed, 1 drop of Oculac SDU into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s). On the recommendation of the pharmacist or on a doctor's prescription, 1 drop is usually used 4 times a day to treat "dry eyes" of various causes.
Contact lens wearers: Place a drop in the conjunctival sac or on the contact lens to lubricate as needed. The amount in one SDU unit is sufficient to lubricate both eyes.
The use and safety of Oculac SDU in children and adolescents has not been established.
Do not reuse any unused contents of the single-use can as they are not preserved. Discard the individual SDU container after use.
It is recommended to press your finger on the inner corner of the eye for 1-2 minutes after application. This prevents the eye drops from draining through the tear duct.
Stick to the doses given in the package insert or recommended by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, consult your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What side effects can Oculac SDU have?
The following side effects can occur when using Oculac SDU:
Occasionally a temporary slight burning sensation or a feeling of stickiness immediately after the drop. Rarely, irritation or hypersensitivity reactions to ingredients in Oculac SDU have also occurred. Blurred vision is possible for a short time after application.
Eye pain, changes in vision and itching of the eye also occurred.
If you notice side effects that are not described here, you should consult your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What else should you pay attention to?
The dropper tip should not come into contact with the eye as this could cause an eye injury.
Shelf life
The drug may only be used up to the expiry date marked "EXP" on the package. Consume immediately after opening. Do not keep an open container with unused solution as the eye drops are not preserved.
Special storage instructions
Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.
The medicine should be stored in the original pack, protected from light and at room temperature (15-25°C).

What does Oculac SDU contain?
1 ml sterile, buffered isotonic solution Oculac SDU contains: 50 mg Povidone K 25 (5% ), sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium chloride, sodium lactate and other excipients for the manufacture of eye drops.
