Vita-Hexin is a wound ointment that accelerates the healing of minor wounds and can prevent or fight minor infections. Vita-Hexin is used, for example, for abrasions, small surgical wounds, cuts and scratches, reddening and swelling of the skin after minor burns (first degree), small lacerations, deep skin tears (rhagades).
If prescribed by a doctor, Vita-Hexin can also be used for bedsores and ulcers on the lower leg (open leg).
Vita-Hexin contains the active ingredients
Large, heavily contaminated and deep wounds, as well as bite and stab wounds, require medical treatment (risk of tetanus). If the size of a wound remains unchanged for some time or if the wound does not heal within 10-14 days, a visit to the doctor is also necessary. This is also recommended if the edges of the wound are very red, if the wound suddenly swells, is very painful or if the injury is accompanied by fever (risk of blood poisoning).
Vita-Hexin must not be used if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients in the wound ointment. This medicine contains peanut oil. It must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to peanut or soya.
If your eardrum is damaged, you must not use Vita-Hexin in the ear.
In children under 2 years of age, the preparation may only be used on medical prescription.
If the size of a wound remains the same for some time or if the wound does not heal within 10-14 days, you should consult a doctor, pharmacist or druggist. You should consult a doctor immediately if the edges of the wound are very red, the wound suddenly swells, is very painful or the injury is accompanied by fever (risk of blood poisoning).
Vita-Hexin should not be used too frequently or for a long period of time without medical advice (see also “What should be taken into account?”). If you notice skin irritation or unusual sensitivity, you should stop using Vita-Hexin ointment.
Vita-Hexin ointment burns the eyes and mucous membranes, so it should be used with caution in these areas.
If Vita-Hexin ointment accidentally gets into your eyes, please rinse immediately with plenty of water.
The effect of chlorhexidine can be neutralized by soaps and other skin cleansers.
