Description
What is Ialugen Cream and when is it used?
Ialugen Cream contains sodium hyaluronate as an active ingredient, a natural substance that accelerates scarring. Ialugen Cream is available as a cream and medicated gauzes. It is a wound healing agent that accelerates the healing of small, minor wounds and minor burns (1st degree).
Ialugen Cream can only be used to treat ulcers if prescribed by a doctor.
What precautions should be taken?
Large, heavily soiled or deep wounds, such as bite and puncture wounds, require medical treatment (danger of tetanus). If the wound size does not decrease within a certain time or if the wound has not healed after 10-14 days, you should also consult the doctor. You should do the same if the edges of the wound are very red, if the wound suddenly swells and becomes very painful, or if you have a fever (risk of blood poisoning).
When should Ialugen Cream not be used?
You should not use Ialugen Cream and gauze if you are allergic to one or more of the ingredients (see «What does Ialugen contain?» ). The same limitation applies to severe, deep and heavily contaminated wounds. Such injuries must be cleaned under medical supervision.
When is caution needed when using Ialugen Cream ?
In very rare cases, sodium hyaluronate or any additives contained in Ialugen Cream, especially after long-term use, can lead to allergic symptoms (e.g. itching) (see « What side effects can Ialugen have?»).
In such cases, it is recommended to interrupt therapy and inform your doctor.
Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you
- suffer from other diseases
- have allergies or
- take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally.
Can Ialugen Cream be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as intended. However, systematic scientific investigations have not been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.
How do you use Ialugen Cream?
Before applying the Ialugen Cream and gauzes, the wounds and their surroundings must be cleaned and disinfected. In particular, it is recommended to remove the cream residues from a previous application.
Cream: unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the ialugen cream is applied 2-3 times a day in a thin layer evenly over the entire injury until scarring has taken place.
The cream is easily washed off with water.
Medicated gauzes: apply one or more gauzes 2 or more times a day, depending on the wound surface. The Ialugen gauze must be removed with sterile forceps and placed on the previously cleaned and disinfected wound; then cover the wound with a sterile gauze and then with cotton wool and fix the whole thing with a suitable bandage.
The individual packs are intended for single use.
The use and safety of Ialugen in children and adolescents has not yet been tested. Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as intended.
Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What side effects can Ialugen Cream have?
The following side effects may occur when using Ialugen:
In very rare cases, sodium hyaluronate or any additives contained in Ialugen Cream can lead to allergic symptoms (e.g. itching, eczema, reddening of the skin, skin reactions or burning sensation), especially after long-term use.
