The amount required depends on the size of the area to be treated. In most cases, a ½ cm strand is sufficient for an area the size of the palm of a hand.
Reliable and sufficiently long use is important for successful treatment. The duration of treatment is 2 to 6 weeks depending on the type of pathogen, the extent and localization of the disease and is usually determined by the doctor, pharmacist or druggist. Insufficient duration of use or stopping treatment too early, even if the symptoms have already subsided, can result in the disease flaring up again.
If the symptoms worsen or do not improve within 4 weeks, a doctor should be consulted.
Infants and toddlers in the 1st year of life
