Description

What is Lansoÿl and when is it used?

Lansoÿl is a flavored jelly that mainly consists of paraffin oil. Its laxative effect is based on a mechanical principle (increase in lubricity and softening of the intestinal contents) so that the intestinal mucosa is not irritated. Lansoÿl is used for the symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults.

Children under the age of 12: use only on medical prescription.

What should you bear in mind?

In the event of constipation, please ensure that you eat high-fiber food (vegetables, fruit, wholemeal bread), drink plenty of fluids and exercise regularly (sport).

Diabetics must take the sugar content of the jelly into account:

ul>
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) contains 0.7 g sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) contains 2.12 g sugar.
  • When must Lansoÿl not be used?

The drug should not be taken if there is a known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients.

The drug should not be taken in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Patients who are hypersensitive to azo dyes, acetylsalicylic acid and antirheumatics or analgesics (prostaglandin inhibitors) should not take Lansoÿl.

When should caution be taken when taking Lansoÿl?

The preparation may only be taken occasionally and for no longer than 1 to 2 weeks. Long-term treatments belong under medical supervision. With long-term use, the absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) in the intestine could be reduced. This circumstance could also result in a restriction of use in patients who suffer from deficiency symptoms of these vitamins or who take vitamin K antagonists (anticoagulants). Please consult your doctor before any treatment over a longer period of time. With high doses and long-term or frequent use, diarrhea with loss of water and disturbances in the mineral balance (including loss of potassium) can occur.

In small children, chronically ill people, people who are bedridden or people with swallowing difficulties, caution is advised when using Lansoyl Gel, as there is a risk of pneumonia if you accidentally inhale Lansoyl Gel.

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from another illness, have allergies or are taking other medicines that can be used internally or externally (including those you bought yourself!).

Can Lansoyl be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Lansoyl reduces the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K). As a precautionary measure, you should avoid taking medications while pregnant or breastfeeding if possible. It is recommended to take medication only if prescribed by a doctor.

    How do you use Lansoÿl?

    Oral use

One tablespoon is equivalent to 3 teaspoons.

    • Adults: 1 to 3 tablespoons daily.
    • Children from 2 to 4 years: 1 to 2 teaspoons daily.
    • Children from 4 to 15 years: 3 to 4 teaspoons daily.
    • Children under 12 years of age: only on medical prescription.

The recommended dosages should not be exceeded.

If the treatment is not successful, the dosage should not be increased and medical advice should be sought.

It should be taken separately from food intake. If taken in the evening, it is recommended not to go to sleep within the next 2 hours and to observe the action time (6-8 hours). The maximum duration of treatment is 15 days.

Lansoÿl contains a red azo dye (cochineal dye A or E 124), which in rare cases can lead to hypersensitivity reactions of the skin and respiratory organs. This can particularly affect patients who suffer from asthma, chronic hives (urticaria) or hypersensitivity to aspirin.

If you notice any of these symptoms, please inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist as soon as possible.
